AMANDUH Returns With Dreamy, Laidback Indie-Pop Single 'Hydroplaning'

Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Amanduh glides into new emotional territory with her latest single ‘Hydroplaning’. A dreamy blend of indie, pop and alternative arrangements, the track drifts through the blurred edges of heartbreak and self-realisation.

Known for her nostalgic melodies, soft-focus vocals and quietly cutting lyricism, Amanduh writes with a rare mix of warmth and self-reflection. Each release feels like another page from a half-forgotten diary, tracing the small contradictions that linger after love fades and reality hits.

Following her debut EP and a string of singles in 2024, Amanduh recently stepped back out with the slow-burning single 'Indigo Sky'. She now follows it with ‘Hydroplaning’, a song that captures the strange calm of knowing something is falling apart but watching it unfold anyway.

"It's ultimately another song about the breakdown of a relationship, but I really loved the concept of the word 'hydroplaning' and lyrically it's so interesting," Amanduh shares.

Hydroplaning refers to losing traction on wet roads when the vehicle starts to slide and control slips away. For Amanduh, it was the perfect metaphor. "It's about repeating old habits and not being surprised when it doesn't work, because you knew it wouldn't," she explains. "I love that it captures the idea of losing control of your emotions and doing stupid things, like repeating habits that you know are bad."

Built on a foundation of smooth bass, sparkling synths and slick guitar lines, ‘Hydroplaning’ drifts with a laidback feel and flowing rhythm. Subtle percussion keeps the vehicle in control while Amanduh’s vocals float above the mix, layered, airy and warm, creating a lucid energy as the production shimmers and blurs the edges between dream and reality. Frictionless, there’s a calm to it all as everything finds its natural course.

Out now, ‘Hydroplaning’ marks another graceful step in Amanduh’s evolving catalogue, finding a relaxed beauty in the loss of control.
