Andrea Schmider Releases New EP ‘Potpourri’
A Colourful Collection of Emotion, Reflection, and Healing – Wrapped in Acoustic Warmth and Poetic Songwriting
Swiss singer-songwriter Andrea Schmider returns with a deeply personal and artfully arranged new EP titled, Potpourri, released this May, represented by Decent Music PR. The five-track collection captures life’s many layers – from longing and loneliness to joy and transformation – woven together in a tapestry of emotional depth, humour, and healing.
Just as a potpourri is made up of different shapes, colours, and scents that create a harmonious whole, Schmider’s latest release blends diverse musical elements – from folk-pop instrumentation and lush strings to vivid storytelling – to form a cohesive and heartfelt listening experience.
“Writing helps me process life, and life never stops offering new inspiration,” Schmider explains. “I hope this music touches people, brings them peace and energy, and helps them reconnect with the colourful mix of life.”
A Track-by-Track Glimpse Into “Potpourri”
Set the Sails – A metaphorical journey about navigating change when life’s anchor gives way. A stirring track about quick decisions, courage, and choosing to set sail rather than remain adrift.
Fractured Beauty – Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, this song honours the beauty in brokenness and the light that shines through life's cracks.
Lonely Streets – A melancholic yet hopeful story of dislocation, self-discovery, and the bittersweet process of letting go of the familiar to find belonging in the unfamiliar.
Going in Circles – With playful childlike elements and deeper emotional undercurrents, this track captures the frustration of feeling stuck while holding on to the hope that paths may someday cross again.
Sweet Stillness – A quiet invitation to face inner silence and discover the joy that lies within. It delicately balances the fear of solitude with the freedom it can bring.
Potpourri was produced by acclaimed Swiss producer Manuel Halter, known for his work with Luca Hänni, Remo Forrer, and London Gospel singer Tracey Campbell (from the Kingdom Choir). The EP features a handpicked ensemble of top-tier studio musicians and co-writer Nadine Yomi, a London-based artist originally from Switzerland. Together, they’ve created a sonically rich, emotionally resonant body of work that channels the spirit of artists like Nina June, Lana Del Rey, and Brooke Fraser.
The result is a collection of songs marked by acoustic intimacy, lyrical depth, and the signature warmth of Schmider’s expressive, versatile voice – shaped by years of experience both in the studio and on stage.
About Andrea Schmider
Born at the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, Andrea Schmider discovered her voice before she could walk. With early influences ranging from Whitney Houston to Sandy Patti, she developed a love for storytelling through song. After years of performing in choirs, on stages like Theater National Bern and Parkarena Winterthur, and releasing her debut EP Beauty from Ashes in 2012, she followed up with her full-length album Promise of Spring in 2016.
In 2023, she released the EP Movin’ On, followed by a series of live performance videos and radio features. With, Potpourri, Schmider invites listeners once again into a vibrant, heartfelt world shaped by life’s experiences – grounded in authenticity and guided by grace.
