Celebrated Canada-born, LA-based artist Andy Stochansky returns with a stirring new single, "I Hope," the latest offering from his upcoming solo album, Poetry of Birds. Best known for his vivid lyrical storytelling and organic, rootsy instrumentation, Stochansky continues to blend emotional depth with poetic simplicity in this moving track.
“‘I Hope’ is basically a prayer for all people who are unhoused,” says Stochansky, whose compassionate songwriting is at the heart of his latest body of work.
Poetry of Birds reflects Andy’s deepening relationship with nature and his desire to slow down the modern world’s noise. The album invites listeners to rediscover wonder in the everyday, offering sonic space to breathe and reflect.
With a career spanning decades, Stochansky’s musical journey includes touring for seven years with Ani DiFranco, penning hits like Shannon Noll’s eight-week #1 “Shine” in Australia, and writing for artists such as Goo Goo Dolls, Dragonette, and Lola Lennox. His songs have been featured in major films and television, including The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.
In 2020, he introduced his experimental project White Elephant Orchestra, earning praise from NPR’s World Café. Now, returning to his solo roots, Andy has poured his heart into Poetry of Birds—an album inspired by poetry, film, nature, and ordinary people.
Other standout tracks include the acoustic gem “Beautiful Sky,” which explores the emotional toll of constant digital connection, and “Champion,” inspired by the resilience of a diner waitress.
“I want people to walk away with a sense of hopefulness,” says Andy. “I put a lot of care into these stories, and I’m excited to finally share them.”
