Archie Sagers shares dreamy new wave single ‘Silver Lake’
“Sagers has quickly established himself as a benevolent jack-of-all-trades in the Brighton DIY scene” - Bandcamp Daily
“Archie’s music brings the listener back to a time that was easier and simpler in nearly every way imaginable” - We All Want Someone To Shout For
Following his self-produced 2021 EP ‘New Colours In The Sky’, co-released by Spirit Goth (CASTLEBEAT, Vansire) and his own indie label Crafting Room Recordings (ELLiS D, Ideal Living, Maximilian), Archie has been working to reinvent himself with a new body of work. ‘Silver Lake’ is the first dreamy offering from that refined selection.
Utilising a six string bass playing chords to start the song, (something he has also been known to do when playing bass with ladylike) Archie combines elements of shoegaze and new wave to create the sparkling foundation of ‘Silver Lake’. On this new single Archie says:
‘I wrote Silver Lake just before moving in with my partner and it’s perhaps the sappiest love song I’ve written. It’s based on the simple idea of creating a place that belongs to both of you - whether that’s a physical space like an apartment or the space you have for eachother, that feeling of comfort when you think of them. It’s about how a person can make you feel as if there is no past or future without them, everything you need is right here.”
Written, recorded, mixed and mastered by Archie, the track also features his partner Jasmine on backing vocals. Scott Alex Robinson (SPIKEMYHEART, Ahno) also contributes to the track, lending their jazzy drumming technique to the rhythm section. The video for 'Silver Lake' was directed and edited by Archie and features a montage of car journeys Archie and his partner took together alongside footage of their apartment and of the lake from which the song derives its name.

In addition to making music, working as a photographer & music journalist, running a magazine & directing the Farm Road Video sessions, Archie runs the not-for-profit Brighton based record label Crafting Room Recordings. The label features artists such as: ELLiS D, Ideal Living, Soft Top, Maximilian, Wine Pride, Hualun and many more. It prides itself on paying artists fairly whilst supporting local charities and Archie has been recently featured on BBC R6 & Bandcamp Daily discussing the label. On running the Crafting Room Recordings Archie says:
‘It often feels like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew! The Brighton music scene is so varied and so welcoming, I feel really lucky to play a part. Working with immense talents from the local scene is a real honour and I’m constantly striving to grow the label and put back into the music scene’
