Derry “radical alt-pop” duo BEAUTY SLEEP (aka producer/songwriters Cheylene Murphy and Ryan McGroarty) are pleased to reveal their new single ‘You (You’re All I Wanted)’, set for release on 15th October 2025 via all good digital service providers.
A euphoric cut of layered, dreamy alt-pop that typifies the band’s maximalist approach to the genre whilst retaining their lo-fi sensibilities, the track features shared vocal duties from the duo and an indie-sleaze guitar hook so large and infectious that you could hang several sequined jackets on it.
Commenting on the song, the band’s Cheylene Murphy says: “The song is about failing upwards. A bit of a play on the idea that a past version of you would be proud of where you are, so looking ahead to a mythical future version of yourself that has the life you dreamed of, and trying to take steps to get closer to meeting them.”
The track comes with a theatrical vaudeville-themed official music video, filmed in Halyon Village in Donegal with filmmaker Brogan Wakely (More Pies Production), production designer Zoe Harking and choreographer Emily McDonagh.
“The song is our love letter to failing and not giving up, so naturally we had to do a vaudeville style music video where we fail at being dancers, clowns, magicians and psychics before finding ourselves with music,” says Murphy of the concept. “We had the most wonderful time shooting this. It was directed and edited by ourselves and all of those people are our mad amazing cool creative friends! And the audience members are my cousin/uncle Ruby & Ilhan Cirtma!”
The pair will release their highly-anticipated second album, The Whole Damn Cake, on 17th October 2025 via Alcopop! Records.
Previous singles ‘BIG + BAD’, ‘Radical Happiness’, ‘Unfamiliar’, and ‘Send It To The Sea’ were released earlier this year picking up radio support from RTÉ 2FM, Today FM, and coverage from EARMILK, Hot Press, Joe.ie, Sunday Life, The Irish News, Nialler 9, The Thin Air, Golden Plec, Fresh On The Net, Get In Her Ears and more.
Alongside the single news, the duo have just been announced to support rising pop newcomer Jessica Winter at Dublin’s Academy 2 on 21st October 2025.
The two piece are also delighted to announce several new dates on their November 2025 UK headline dates, with tickets on sale now, including an album release show on 20th November @ Belfast Empire (see below for listings).

More info:
For those yet to be introduced to Beauty Sleep’s particular larger-than-life brand, the Derry duo serve up a maximalist blend of bewitching synth-pop and guitar-driven indie rock that’s sure to set your heart racing. Their lavish soundscapes and dizzying songwriting have drawn comparisons to New Order, St Vincent and Japanese Breakfast, so far achieving over a million streams and performing at festivals including SXSW, Electric Picnic and Other Voices.
The two partners in crime released their mighty debut album Be Kind in 2019, deservedly shortlisted for Best Album at the Northern Irish Music Prize, with standalone 2024 singles ‘BIG + BAD’ and ‘Big Sky’ since igniting a surge of new fandom for the band, as excitement for the new album builds to fever pitch.
To date, the band have seen sustained buzz from music press tastemakers in Ireland and the UK including Hot Press, CLASH, The Belfast Telegraph, Irish News, Nialler9, Chordblossom, The Last Mixed Tape, Get In Her Ears, and many others, plus radio plays from Phil Taggart (BBC R1), Amy Lamé (BBC 6music), Stephen McCauley (BBC Radio Ulster/BBC Radio Foyle), and Dan Hegarty (RTE2fm).
This time around recorded in their own custom-built studio “The Dream Factory” with coffees, focus, energy, and time, forthcoming new album The Whole Damn Cake is a triumph of maximalism in every which way. “Recording during the day felt like we were legitimizing our own reality, compared to the way we approached our debut” says Ryan. “It helped us treat our practice with the same reverence and respect we bring to other people’s projects.”
This DIY setup not only opened the floodgates for experimentation but also allowed them to fully step into their roles as producers. “We are equally songwriters and producers,” says Cheylene. “And that matters. I want it to be clear that this is my work.”
Together, they recorded nearly every element of the album themselves—all instruments (except drums, thanks to Ross Bickerstaff), vocals, production, mixing. “It’s amazing,” they say of their shared process. “We just vibe. We tag in and out. If someone has an idea, they jump in. If one of us peters out, the other takes over.”
As official editorial playlist support from Spotify’s Discover Weekly, New Music Friday, Pop Hits, and more continues to build with each release, the next 12 months are sure to see Beauty Sleep continue on their skyrocketing trajectory.
