Birkenhead-born newcomer TY FREEMAN is delighted to reveal his new single ‘Better Man’, set for release on 17th October 2025 via all good digital service providers.

Recorded at Real Sound Recording Studio in Milan, the track was written and composed by Tyron Freeman, mixed by Chris Taylor (Blossoms, The Coral, Miles Kane) and mastered by Graeme Lynch at Kempston Street Studios.

His most personal and powerful single yet, ‘Better Man’ is a raw, soul-drenched reckoning that captures lightning in a bottle. It’s the sound of a man no longer trying to prove himself to others, but instead fighting for his own peace and artistic path. With its mix of soul, grit and cathartic honesty, the track finds Freeman at his rawest and most evolved—a bold new chapter from one of the most authentic voices in modern rock.

Written during a period of deep emotional collapse and awakening, ‘Better Man’ finds Freeman confronting trauma, abandonment and the lingering ghosts of a relationship that pushed him to a breaking point. Recorded live with friends in the studio, the track carries the warmth and imperfection of a moment captured in truth—soulful, unfiltered and alive.

“It’s not a heartbreak song,” Ty explains. “It’s a spiritual reckoning. It’s about learning from the wreckage you made of yourself all those years battling manic highs and crushing lows without realising what it really was and walking out stronger, even when you’re left for dead in the gutter. The harsh truth is no one else is coming to save you but yourself.”

“I’d been chasing that hard-rock energy for years and it was failing to resonate with me personally, but something shifted,” he adds. “I started writing these more fragile, emotionally-coloured songs that felt truer to who I really am. Looking at this song now, it feels somewhere between The Verve’s Northern Soul era and those B-sides like ‘Slide Away’, that same weight of honesty and soul in the voice that moved me when I was 17. Back then I was listening to bands like Cast, The Coral, and Radiohead, alongside Jeff Buckley, artists who knew how to balance vulnerability and power. This solo record is about returning to my roots, but this sound is my evolution.”

Directed by Frank Felsen, the accompanying official music video channels that transformation into a haunting cinematic journey; a symbolic merging of strength and vulnerability.

“The video mirrors that same rebirth,” says Ty. “It’s about reconnecting with the softer, more intuitive energy within myself, the part I’d ignored for years. Sina represents that balance coming back into focus. It’s not about one side destroying the other, but about integration healing the divide between strength and vulnerability. That’s the real transformation.”

“Working with Frank and his crew was incredibly humbling and very special, he also really understood what the song was trying to say on a deeper level. He created a world around it that was dark, beautiful, and human—exactly what I wanted this video to feel like.”

Ty Freeman is a Merseyside-born, Liverpool-raised musician fast making a name for himself with raw vocals, a vintage tone, and an electrifying stage presence.

From a turbulent childhood to pursuing his first solo project after years of musical exploration, Ty’s journey is carved into every note he plays.

Raised in foster care, he found salvation through music, first honing his craft relentlessly guerilla gigging on the streets of Liverpool, and then in bars and clubs from Liverpool to Hamburg to Zurich. Now based in the latter for the long-term, he has already secured a reputation as a dynamic live act with an unbreakable spirit, ready to step out from the underground and onto the world’s big stages.

With a Chris Taylor (Blossoms, The Coral) produced debut album already in the pipeline, earlier this year Ty played a sold out 200 capacity headline show at Zurich’s Dynamo Werk 21, while making his official UK live debut at London’s The Shacklewell Arms to a rapturous reception in June 2025.

The new track is the latest offering from the songwriter following on from previous single ‘One Way Love’—a raw, soul-soaked slice of rock’n’roll for the misfits, the dreamers, and the survivors, released in August 2025 and picking up support from a swathe of underground tastemakers.
