(31st July) Blusher continue to carve out their own lane in the pop cosmos, today releasing their highly-anticipated new EP 'RACER' - out now via Atlantic Records / Warner Music Australia. The EP arrives alongside the announcement of a new UK headline tour, with stops in London, Manchester and Glasgow in September, ahead of Reeperbahn Festival and further headline dates in the US and Australia.
New EP 'RACER' sees the Australian trio consisting of Jade, Lauren, and Miranda refining their sound with a sharper sense of identity, moving through sparkling synth-pop and dreamy nostalgia, delivering inescapable melodies and a nonchalant escapism from start to finish.
The new EP initially took shape during writing trips in Los Angeles, London, and Stockholm, nodding to influences as diverse as Basement Jaxx, Robyn, MGMT, A.G. Cook, Dora Jar, LCD Soundsystem, Passion Pit, and Charli XCX. With their hands in every part of the artistic process, the band created a world of their own. Miranda sets the scene:
“Imagine a rave thrown in the middle of the night on a racetrack with a lot of disco balls everywhere. We’re DJ-ing and we’re singing. Someone is breaking up on the dance floor, someone is confessing their love, people are making out, and somebody else is telling their friends how much they love them. We want Blusher to be the soundtrack to that night.”
“When we first formed, the songs were inspired by conversations with girls in the club bathroom,” reveals Lauren. “On this EP, we pivoted slightly to the type of chat that happens in the girls’ locker room, those confessional, team moments that every group of women has at some point, and that we have had a lot of experience with in doing our first tours.”
Previously unheard highlight 'DON’T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT' was co-written with Alisa Xayalith of The Naked & Famous. Euphoric synths flicker as a chant echoes, “Don’t make it romantic / don’t look at me like you’re in love / don’t make it dramatic / don’t look at me like that.”
“We had been talking about finding out a good friend has a crush on you,” Lauren continues. “We were inspired by the idea of an ‘Anti-Love song’. It can be taken in a flirtatious way, or you could be saying you don’t want the attention. The double-meaning is fun.”
Ultimately, Blusher is the sound of friendship booming through the speakers, shaking the dance-floor, and resonating worldwide.

MORE ABOUT BLUSHER
In Blusher’s metaphorical teen rom-com of a band, Jade, Lauren and Miranda are the leads. They share vocals on their songs and swap instruments during the live shows. They all produce and write together, utilising their individual experiences cutting their teeth as solo artists before forming the band. Unfiltered lyricism peppered over dreamy synths and thick baselines lands the Blusher sound somewhere between late-night solitude and a 2am dance floor.
Since Blusher launched into action at BIGSOUND in Brisbane in 2022, the trio have garnered support from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Line of Best Fit, Dork Magazine, Notion, triple j, BBC Radio 1, iHeartRadio Australia, People Magazine, Vogue Australia, RUSSH Magazine and many more.
