Acclaimed Puerto Rican indie duo Buscabulla have shared their intensely liberating new single, “Te Fuiste,” available now via Domino. An official visualizer premieres today on YouTube.
“We needed this to be a high-energy song that you could jump to,” says Buscabulla co-founder Raquel Berrios. “The message is so cathartic that you almost need to dance to it to process the pain when you are losing the person you love.”

“Te Fuiste” marks the latest track release from Buscabulla’s upcoming new album, Se Amaba Así, arriving everywhere on Friday, June 13th. An official album trailer welcoming fans into the world of Se Amaba Así is streaming now.
A raw and penetrating song cycle exploring the struggles and challenges of relationships in the modern world, Se Amaba Así was heralded last month by the album’s cinematically incendiary opening track, “El Camino”.
“We took the decided approach to turn inward, to ourselves, and explore the struggles of not only our own romantic relationship but romantic relationships in general,” Berrios says of the new album. “Wrestling between traditional versus modern ideas of love, Se Amaba Así is a cathartic, self-reflective journey of songs influenced by Latin and tropical genres of the past seen through a contemporary lens.”
Buscabulla will celebrate the arrival of Se Amaba Así with a U.S. headline tour getting underway June 19 at Miami, FL’s ZeyZey and then continuing through mid-July. Highlights include stops at such vaunted venues as Chicago, IL’s Lincoln Hall (June 28), Los Angeles, CA’s The Belasco (July 3), Phoenix, AZ’s Crescent Ballroom (July 6), and Austin, TX’s Antone’s Nightclub (July 10). A special BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn show with Chuwi and Paso Negro is now confirmed for June 26. For complete details and ticket information, please visit buscabulla.com.

Se Amaba Así—Se Amaba Así— which loosely translates to "The way love was”—sees Buscabulla co-founders Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle devoting their eagerly awaited second album to the examination of modern love and instrumentalizing myriad strains of Latin music to explore the most intimate struggles as both artists and lovers. From the neo-doowop of “Mi Marido” to the distorted guitars of “Mortal,” the album pushes the duo’s shared sonic world through dark synthesizers, witchy vocal loops, and the sharp snap of live percussion to create a singularly universal record about the difficulties inherent in keeping a relationship alive at this moment in time.
“I don’t like fantasy,” Berrios says. “I very much like to write about real life. If art isn’t about putting yourself in this vulnerable position, then what is the point of making it? Why do you want to make art from a safe place?”
Se Amaba Así follows last year’s acclaimed single, “11:11,” available now alongside an official music video directed by Latin Grammy Award-winner Jorge “Fish” Rodríguez (Calle 13) and streaming now on YouTube. Self-produced by Buscabulla and mixed by 2x GRAMMY® Award-winner Rich Costey (Muse, Foo Fighters), the dynamic, merengue-infused track marked the duo’s first original new song in over four years following 2020’s breakthrough debut album, Regresa. Named among NPR’s “Best Music of 2020” while being hailed by Pitchfork as “joyful and melancholic,” the album centered on Buscabulla’s return to their native Puerto Rico following more than a decade of living in New York City.
Along with global critical applause, Regresa captured the attention of the one and only Bad Bunny, who invited the duo to collaborate on “Andrea,” one of the many highlights of his chart-topping, Latin Grammy Award-winning album, 2022’s Un Verano Sin Ti. Now boasting more than 516M streams on Spotify alone, the track introduced Buscabulla to audiences worldwide, as did special guest performances at Bad Bunny’s blockbuster “World’s Hottest Tour” at stadiums in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States. The experience imbued Buscabulla with renewed ambition and revitalized creativity, the results of which first manifested themselves on “11:11” and now continue with Se Amaba Así.
“You have a purpose, and you have to fulfill it,” Berrios concludes. “That’s what this new era is about.”
Se Amaba Así is available now to pre-order digitally and on limited-edition Clear vinyl, standard Black vinyl, and CD. Pre-order: Dom Mart | Digital.
