Charlottetown, Canada rock trio ABSOLUTE LOSERS are today delighted to announce their new album, In The Crowd, set for release on 26th September 2025 via Having Fun Records—the latest imprint from Toronto’s renowned We Are Busy Bodies—recorded with acclaimed producer Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) at Palace Sound in Toronto.
Unlike their 2023 Music PEI Award-winning, lockdown-bedroom-produced, debut album At The Mall, the trio went all in this time around, spending fourteen-hour days in the studio, fully immersed in the process. Walsh not only produced but also engineered and mixed the record, helping to bring the band’s expanded vision to life.
To celebrate the news, Absolute Losers are sharing the album’s lead single and title track ‘In The Crowd’, available to stream from 17th July 2025 on all good digital service providers.
With lead vocals from bassist/vocalist Sam Langille and bass synth contributions from Holy Fuck’s Graham Walsh, ‘In The Crowd’ is an emotional, nostalgia-filled homage to summers spent with bandmate and brother Josh Langille at the cottage on their grandparents' blueberry farm in Flat River, Prince Edward Island.
Vivid personal memories are evoked of digging for worms to use as bait, catching and skinning trout for supper, and their grandfather’s stories of growing up in a post-war boat building town in Nova Scotia.
“They lived in Nova Scotia so we made a point of being out there as much as possible, practically living out there,” says Sam of the track’s inspiration. “A lot of people can relate to feeling some kind of magic when they’re with their grandparents and this place was definitely magical as a kid.”
The recording perfectly captures the electric live feeling of the band, with the track proving a high point at their shows. The entire band are at the top of their game here—Sam’s poetic lyrics are bolstered by a standout chording bassline in the bridge, guitarist Josh shines with an explosive Alex Lifeson (Rush) inspired bridge part, whilst drummer Daniel throws in intricate tom action amidst the lo-fi drive of the track.
“When I started writing this song I was thinking back to all of these memories of feeling connected to and supported by my family as a kid,” elaborates Sam. “I was thinking about growing out of playing hockey, and bike shows, and getting a pat on the back when I caught fish. I was thinking that even though I’ve outgrown that kind of thing, I know my parents, grandparents, and entire family support me and cheer me on with everything I do.”
“Now they’re cheering me on for moving out, getting a new job, releasing music. The cheering is just more felt than shouted. Both my grandparents have passed away, but I still feel their support and want to make them proud. Playing this song makes me feel close to them.”
The three piece will be playing a run of August 2025 Canadian tour dates in support of the album, with a one-off special UK headline date on 16th September at The Strongroom Bar, London (see below for listings).
