Influential French sludge-metal band CELESTE’s landmark album 'Morte(s) Née(s)' has been remixed and remastered to celebrate its 15th anniversary and the new version is set for release 5th December. The album’s closer ‘De Sorte que Plus Jamais un Instant ne Soit Magique’, roughly translated as ‘So that no moment is ever magical again’, has been released in its new form today.

Vocalist and bassist Johan Girardeau says “At thirteen minutes, this closing piece (of the album) is the ultimate representation of CELESTE at that point in time. It contains everything we were — our textures, our obsessions, our signature contrasts. Rather than a collection of riffs, it’s a fully realized musical narrative, built with precision and intent. The final section features French ensemble Les Fragments de la Nuit, whose piano and string arrangements elevate the track to a cinematic, almost sacred level. A majestic ending — both radiant and doomed — that closes the album like a requiem.”

Originally released in 2010, 'Morte(s) Née(s)' has been remixed by Chris Edrich and remastered by Pierrick Noël, bringing a renewed depth and clarity to one of CELESTE’s darkest and most influential records. 2025 also marks CELESTE’s 20th anniversary as a band and so it’s especially fitting that the band celebrate this pivotal work, which is a defining statement in their history. A bridge between their raw beginnings and their modern sophistication, this reissue stands as both a tribute to their legacy and a reminder that CELESTE’s intensity remains timeless.

CELESTE previously revealed the updated version of album opener ‘Ces belles de rêve aux verres embués’ along with a haunting music video. Vocalist and bassist Johan Girardeau says of the song they’ve probably performed the most throughout their career: “It perfectly captured CELESTE’s evolution at the time — a sharper turn toward the black metal spectrum. From the opening seconds, it sets the tone for the entire album: fast, suffocating, dark and dissonant, yet still strangely melodic. A bold, uncompromising statement that laid the groundwork for everything the band would become.”

Emerging from Lyon, France’s celebrated hardcore punk scene in the early 00s, CELESTE have forged a sound that blends the intensity of black metal, sludge, and post-hardcore into something utterly singular — dark, suffocating, and emotionally charged. From their earliest shows, CELESTE made it clear: brutality could also be art.

Two decades in, CELESTE remain a band in constant transformation — heavier, deeper, and more human than ever. Their music is still a storm of violence and beauty, built not to please but to confront.

There are no compromises, no formulas — only evolution through extremity.

Celebrate 20 years of CELESTE and 15 years of 'Morte(s) Née(s)’ this December.
