"A weird combination of prog, math rock, and sugary pop-punk that inexplicably congeals into a coherent whole that is really something special. The video perfectly captures all the different angles of this song together for a perfect visual representation of the track."- New Noise Magazine

CHAPEL HILL, NC — Superintendo comes out swinging (or super soaking perhaps?) with their latest Punkerton Records single, “Sporting Life.” With intricate guitar melodies, soaring vocals, and catchy hooks, Superintendo has another hit on their hands. While at its core, “Sporting Life” is a song about adults having a squirt gun fight, there’s also a level of protecting that childhood innocence and fun now that we’re adults. It’s a reminder that life doesn’t have to be completely serious all the time. Especially now, when life is harder than ever, Superintendo reminds us that it’s okay to shoot people with a squirt gun in the middle of the day during the week.

“This song is about a bunch of grownups having a giant water gun fight on a weekday. Serious stuff. I wrote this song the summer I turned 40. My wife and kids love it and knew that it was about a huge water gun fight. So on my birthday they threw a huge surprise party with like 75 people who all hid in my back yard and surprised me by shooting a ton of water guns at me. It was awesome.”
- Luke West (vocals and guitar)

BAND BIO
Superintendo is a genre-curious punk band from Chapel Hill, NC that sometimes plays ska/dub. While they strive to make every single song an absolute banger, they also fold in some pretention wherever they can by shoehorning in some jazz, bossa nova, or prog (gross). Basically, they play both genres: fast and slow. But mostly fast. Superintendo brings a no-pretensions approach to their music and performances where they strive to get everyone dancing and feeling welcomed with 10-foot arms.
