London indie punk trio cheerbleederz are pleased to announce their return this year with a new EP titled prove me wrong, set for release on 5th September 2025 via Alcopop! Records.
Another tightly-honed collection of irresistible DIY songwriting, the EP addresses broader themes of taking control of your own life and responsibility for yourself, and feeling disillusioned with growing older and apart from friends. “If your friendships don't serve you anymore, or they feel more like a competition, it's time to let go!” says drummer Phoebe Cross. “Feeling a bit defeated after a hang with a friend is not how you should feel.”
To celebrate the news, the band are sharing the lead single ‘i deserved better’ which will be released on 21st July 2025 via all good digital service providers.
Commenting on the track, guitarist Kathryn Woods says: “‘i deserved better’ is about knowing your self worth, and recognising when you're in a rut. The chorus doesn't even have any real words, but sometimes you don't need em!”
cheerbleederz will make their live return this September 2025 with a short run of UK headline tour dates, followed by a support slot with LAKES on 22nd November at The Underworld, London—tickets are on sale now (see below for listings).
The trio’s forthcoming new EP, prove me wrong, was recorded across multiple sessions with long-time collaborator and producer Rich Mandell (Fresh, Supermilk, Happy Accidents) in the live room at The Bookhouse Studio, London, and his new studio space in the same building. “As always, the recording process was super collaborative and a lot of fun,” says Cross, “with euphoric moments when we were happy with a take!”
The single is the first new material from the band since the release of their critically-acclaimed 2022 debut album even in jest, which picked up support from Brooklyn Vegan, UPSET, GIGWISE, DORK, Noizze, The Punk Site and more, with multiple radio spins at BBC 6Music, Radio X, BBC Radio London and Amazing Radio.
Since releasing the album, the band have toured with Fresh, The Spook School, and millennial ’Teenage Dirtbag’ sensations Wheatus, after front man Brendan B. Brown serendipitously discovered them on Bandcamp and became an instant fan. The band have also appeared at Manchester Punk Festival, 2000 Trees and TRUCK Festival, and recently completed their first European tour dates.
On their return, the three piece say: “It's been a really tough 12-18 months for cheerbleederz—we've had a lot of life thrown at us, but the band continues to bring us joy and we're pleased to be connecting with people through our wider community. <3”

Releasing their debut EP faceplant in 2018, cheerbleederz have been peddling their driving, fun and catchy as hell DIY indie-pop across the UK and Europe ever since.
Following up with 2020 EP, lobotany, before dropping their 2022 debut album even in jest, the trio’s lovable 3 part harmonies and knack for a lo-fi banger have landed them a cover shot on Spotify’s Hot New Bands playlist and spots on The Rock List, plus key radio support from John Kennedy (Radio X), Tom Robinson (BBC 6music) and more.
With early live appearances at Manchester Punk Festival and Switzerland’s inhumano Fest, alongside tours with contemporaries The Winter Passing, flirting. and ME REX already notched up, the band drew early praise from the likes of DORK, UPSET, CLASH, BBC Introducing, God Is In The TV Zine, Loud Women, Already Heard, For The Rabbits, Austin Town Hall, and a host of underground blogs and zines.
Already boasting a fine pedigree of underground hits between their individual members’ various bands (Fresh, ME REX, and Finish Flag), with their new project the trio have hit upon an instantly infectious brand of no-frills, melody-driven punk. Taking influence from the likes of The Breeders, Snail Mail, Hop Along, Alvvays, Charly Bliss and Cayetana, their songs touch thoughtfully on the lived experiences of women and marginalised people.
