Citizen Rat Explode Back with ‘Fry’ Featuring a Voice You Didn’t See Coming

Brisbane/Sunshine Coast punk-metal act Citizen Rat have dropped their most explosive release to date. Fry is out now on all streaming platforms, a three-minute blast of pure chaos sharpened to a razor’s edge.

Earlier this year, Citizen Rat made waves with Shut My Mouth and Truth Lie - tracks that lit up international radio, caught streaming buzz, and landed the band a deal with Canadian label SODEH Records. Now, with Fry, the band up the stakes once again.

Fry is a high-energy punk/metal anthem that dives into themes of alienation, substance abuse, and the struggle to fit in when the world only seems to accept you at your most self-destructive. Both a raw confession and a furious release, it channels the chaos of losing yourself to your internal battles.

The track features Polly Cooke (Mitch, Please!), whose blistering guest vocals ignite the storm. Behind the desk, rising producer Jordan Bain (Airlock Studios) and Grammy Award–winner Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys) capture Citizen Rat at full throttle.

Citizen Rat are no longer flying under the radar. This year has already seen them on the cover of Heavy Magazine, blasting across ABC’s Rage, and quickly carving out a reputation as one of Australia’s most fearless heavy acts. With more singles and a national tour planned through 2025–2026, Fry is just the beginning of what’s next.

Fans will hear the single in full force when Citizen Rat take it to the stage on the
Fry Single Tour this spring:

THE FRY SINGLE TOUR – EAST COAST
27 Sept – Vinnies Dive Bar, Gold Coast
3 Oct – Bootleggers, Sydney
4 Oct – Nighthawks, Melbourne
17 Oct – PFR Lounge, Brisbane

.

With a new single, a global label deal and their largest national run locked in, 2025 is set to be Citizen Rat’s breakthrough year.
