“The Sound of a Generation” - Indie Boulevard Magazine

“On their second single Steelers have stolen the sun from the sky and injected it into their song” - The Upcoming Blog (on the song “Come Get Your Man”).

“They are amazing. A Homage to the 1980s” - BBC Radio

For a young band that only came to fruition at the end of 2024 with their debut single release, Steelers, have already achieved more than some bands manage in a lifetime.

Initially formed at Leeds Conservatoire, the quartet—comprising vocalist and guitarist Noah Clegg, lead guitarist Isaac Chinneck, bassist and vocalist Abi Littlewood, and drummer George Card—draw inspiration from iconic artists like David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, and The Cars

Their sound, described by the BBC as a "homage to the 1980s," seamlessly blends nostalgic influences with a modern twist.

Debuting with "The Part That Hurts The Most" on November 29, 2024, Steelers quickly garnered attention from both sides of the Atlantic, earning spots on various radio stations and music publications.

Their follow-up single, "Come Get Your Man," which was released on January 9, 2025, received much praise and acclaim for the band and was premiered on BBC Radio Leeds with Gayle Lofthouse.

Known for their unrelenting, one-of-a-kind live performances, Steelers have established themselves already as a firm fan favourite by captivating audiences with their on-stage chemistry and crowd engagement.

Having completed a run of sold out shows, Steelers then released their follow-up single, "Help (I'm Just A)" in February 2025 and are now gearing up for the release of their next single “This Night” which is a prelude to and the lead focus track from their debut EP ‘Good Things Will Happen Tonight’ which is being self-released by the band on 18th June 2025.

The EP features 6 tracks being:-

  1. Intro

  2. Help! (I’m Just A) (Previously released)

  3. Fast Friends

  4. Come Get Your Man (previously released)

  5. The Part That Hurts The Most (Previously released)

  6. This Night (Lead Focus Track)

The EP as a whole features an eclectic mix of music and melody, it’s pure pop-rock that’s part theatrical, part nostalgic yet with a  modern twist. In summary, it's completely enthralling.

The focus track of This Night’ is a nostalgic synth heavy homage to everything good that came from the 1980’s with its disco esque beats and romanticised lyrics, it literally takes you on a time travel to those heady days of blockbuster VHS movie nights, leg warmers and the crush you had on a certain dreamy pop star on the cover of Smash Hits magazine. There’s a certain innocence that we can all relate to wrapped up in a storytelling movie soundtrack style with its punchy delivery and unapologetic production.

The band have said of the track:-

““This Night” captures a rush of young, reckless, 1980s romance — that feeling in a classic movie when something casual might turn into something serious, but neither person really knows it yet. It’s messy, nostalgic, impulsive, but hopeful at the same time. It was inspired by watching “Back to the Future”, and the urgency of George Mcfly to win over Lorraine in the under-the-sea dance scene, and is meant to mirror that urgency of asking for a prom date.”

The ‘Good Things Will Happen Tonight’ EP starts off with  Intro  - which is filled with swirling synths that build slowly adding a cinematic atmospheric layer making for a dramatic and powerful opener leading into Help (I’m Just A) which by contrast is a more upbeat track with jangly guitars, blues rock riffs helped with the addition of a saxophone and powerful punchy chorus hooks. Up Next, ‘Fast Friends’ is a groovy and melodic number with some superb harmonies with a very bluesy feel to them.  ‘Come Get Your Man’ is a high energy stomper with an exciting chord progression backed up by keys and a crisp powerful vocal delivery. ‘The Part That Hurts The Most’ is again another change in pace for this genre fluid band showcasing a more stripped back tender acoustic-led vibe, that builds with intent punctured by sweeping guitars and drums, nodding towards a classic rock ballad.

All songs on the EP were written by Noah Clegg, except “Fast Friends” which was written by Noah Clegg and Abi Littlewood.  The EP was rather incredulously recorded in Noah and Abi’s bedrooms, in Wakefield and Bradford and was Mixed and Produced at Leeds Conservatoire and in Bradford by Isaac Chinneck.

Good Things Will Happen Tonight is a well thought out and carefully measured debut EP giving narrative to the band and their creativity. It doesn’t try too hard, it's not trying to be something it's not.  It comes from a place of maturity from a band who already know their sound and style and they know how to do it well. They’ve managed to draw inspiration from decades past whilst managing to also stay entirely relevant and sound excitingly fresh at the same time.

Mixing together punchy vocals and rousing choruses with tender harmonies and emotive chords, it’s clear that every note on this EP has been carefully considered and measured at great length with no stone being left unturned or anything being left to chance.
