Edinburgh Indie-Rock Band Bad Knees Make Their Mark with New Single ‘Wallace’

Emerging from Scotland’s vibrant music scene, Bad Knees, a four-piece indie-rock outfit formed in Edinburgh in 2024, have built their reputation through a strong DIY ethos. Recording, mixing, and mastering their own music, the band have taken an independent approach to their craft while ensuring their songs remain as accessible as possible.

Regularly spotted busking across Edinburgh, they bring their original set straight to the streets, alongside hosting quarterly "pay what you can" nights in the city. Their gigs span Scotland, from legendary venues like King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow to the basement of Edinburgh’s Banshee Labyrinth, and all the way north to Aberdeen’s Blue Lamp.

Their latest single, Wallace, tells the story of a stray dog found by lead singer Michael. Taking the dog in temporarily while searching for its owner, he quickly discovered Wallace had no regard for garden upkeep, leaving destruction in his wake. After handing him over to a local shelter, the owner was eventually tracked down—only to reveal Wallace had simply jumped the garden fence. This unexpected adventure became the inspiration for the track.

With a sound rooted in raw energy and heartfelt storytelling, Wallace is a testament to Bad Knees' ability to craft songs that connect on an emotional level. As they continue to make waves across Scotland, they remain a band to watch in the indie-rock circuit.
