EMPARA MI DROPS SECOND INSTALMENT OF MUSIC VIDEO SERIES ‘THE HAUNTING OF EMPARA MI’
The conceptual project unfolds after the breakthrough artist has amassed over 50 million global streams and over 6.4 million YouTube views.
Jodie Bryant (Radio 1) - “I love it when an artist has a proper vision… aesthetically, musically, everything is all thought out. And, I think this next one has got that. Her name in Latin literally means to take over… and I think that’s what might happen you know”
Jess Iszatt (Radio 1) - “I've been just completely obsessed with her music. London Grammar meets Florence + the Machine”
[21st November 2025] Empara Mi is continuing her anthropic music video series, The Haunting Of Empara Mi, with her track ‘Mercy’, directed by Cal McIntyre (lead creative for The Last Dinner Party).
In October Empara Mi stepped into the finale of her album, ‘Monsters & Masochists’, a body of work that is more than just an album, it is carefully carved chapters of a much deeper narrative - a journey through a path of sadness, anger, self-destruction, acceptance and everything in between. The visionary artist sees music not just as sound, but as an all-encompassing sensory experience. And her new conceptual album is exactly that. Shifting effortlessly between styles, from soul-stirring ballads to electrifyingly raw compositions, she exhibits her musical and narrative voice as one of the most unique of her generation.
This video is no different. Following on from its counterpart, ‘Hurt Like Me’, the visuals take place in a desolate house, following a story centred around a possession. In the video, a demonic figure embodying Mother Mercy finds her at her weakest and pulls her through a violent evolution. Her possession is a blessing, not a curse, she turns her into the monster this world has forged, and the woman powerful enough to take the place she was always meant to hold. Empara Mi sings “blood under my fingernails, I climbed your ladder, it led me to hell, I served your wine while you feed, I laid the table, now I want a seat.”
This is more than just a music video. It carries the grainy, voyeuristic unease of a camcorder horror - the kind where every flicker and movement feels accidental, and every silence is hard to ignore. The hand-held quality blurs the lines between performance and found footage, making the viewer feel less like an observer and more like an intruder on some unholy events. As the narrative plays out, their connection becomes more of a twisted waltz between guidance and manipulation, leaving the viewer questioning if they have just witnessed a haunting or an unraveling on tape.
About Empara Mi
Captivating, enigmatic, and boldly unconventional, Empara Mi is carving her own lane in music. Her debut album, ‘Suitcase Full of Sins’, became an underground sensation during the pandemic, racking up over 50 million streams and landing tracks like ‘Blood in the Water’ and ‘Ditch’ in global Netflix hits such as Ginny & Georgia and Behind Her Eyes.
Her cinematic sound has been featured in Transformers, Fortnite, Riviera, and Dynasty, alongside global campaigns for Apple and Pretty Little Thing. Most recently, her rendition of ‘God’s Gonna Cut You Down’ for Day of the Jackal, sparked widespread acclaim.
Drawing inspiration from cinematic scores, operatic grandeur and the grit of hip-hop, Empara Mi has cultivated a sound entirely her own. Her voice, described by Clash Magazine as carrying a “devastating sense of soul,” has made her a sought-after collaborator, including the featured single ‘Freedom’ with Wilkinson and Sub Focus on their No. 1 album ‘Portals’.
As much a visual artist as a musician, ‘Monsters & Masochists’ has unfolded in tidal waves, with ‘I Can’t’ amassing over 1 Million YouTube views and over 1.1 million TikTok views in its first month and ‘Masochist’ succeeding it with over 500k YouTube views in its first two weeks. And along with honours from music video awards in Berlin, LA and London, ‘I Can’t’ was the Best Music Video winner at the Cannes World Film Festival. The single also debuted at #64 on the UK iTunes Chart, and was named BBC Introducing Track of the Week. And, overall, Empara Mi has earned 13M TikTok views, 7.2K videos using her tracks, and 6.4M views on Youtube.
As the release of her highly anticipated second album ‘Monsters & Masochists’ unfolds, Empara Mi is set to leave an unimpeachable impression on the music world, featuring orchestral arrangements recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and a bold fusion of nostalgic rock and electronic production, the album dives into extremes of emotion, “It’s about confronting your demons and embracing the chaos within,” she says. With her distinctive voice that commands attention and fearless artistry that challenges convention, Empara Mi is a force of nature, creating music that resonates long after the final note.
