Eric Barlow - "Winding" single on The Sound Cove & full length album “Still Moving Parts”

Eric Barlow returns with his 3rd single for The Sound Cove, ‘Winding’, and it’s a rocker! The single arrives as a companion to, and component of, his excellent full-length album, Still Moving Parts.  With in-your-face overdriven guitar riffs that recall classic 70’s rock and post-punk bravado, Barlow’s “Winding” comes and goes before you know it. This 3-minute, full blown rock n’ roll song tells the story of a person that has always thought they were bulletproof. Showcasing intense vocal harmonies the whole way through, the lyrics are a narrative warning to the writer himself not to take on the same risks that he once did - he isn’t going to get away with it this time. When the “Hurdy Gurdy Man” style bridge arrives, the perspective changes to that of the paramedics trying to save the person’s life.  It’s another real-life tale from Eric, along the lines of his previous single on The Sound Cove, “Raving At the Wall”.   This time, though, the encounter was not on the subway, but on a bicycle.   As Eric states, “This was a terrifying bike accident that I was in - circa 2018.  I survived it, but the truth is I almost bought the farm on that one.”  We’re glad to have Eric here and making music!

Regarding Still Moving Parts, all of Eric’s current singles on The Sound Cove are here, as well as 8 more stellar tracks, including the lead off track, “The Rift”, which not only continues to showcase Barlow’s songwriting ability, but also his superb guitar playing.  This new album (also available on compact disc) has it all – as Scott Janovitz says in the liner notes for the album: “Halos of harmonies, meticulous melodicism, and tasteful textures…plus, of course, Barlow’s impassioned and inimitable guitar playing. And hey did you know he can play keys?”
