Evan Williams releases new single 'Ride On'
new single RIDE ON January 8th
debut album THE VIEW FROM HALFWAY DOWN 11th April
Kentish singer-songwriter-guitarist Evan Williams releases his hotly awaited debut album The View From Halfway Down through Peter Doherty's Strap Originals on April 11th. The album will be available on 12” clear vinyl and digital download and is available to pre-order here. A new single, the western influenced live banger Ride On, is released 8th January.
Evan Williams says of Ride On: "I heard fragments of this song in a dream after a particularly heavy night. In the dream it was the theme for the opening sequence of an old western movie starring Ice-Cube. I woke up humming this melody, and the phrase ‘He was out there in the city eating western takeaways’ going round my head. I got out of bed and wrote the rest of the track in a few minutes."
The video for Ride On, directed by Barnaby Fairley, features the Sinclair C5, which was one of the first electric vehicles to become commercially available. The C5 celebrates the 40th anniversary, of its launch, on the 10th January. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnaYeMSUHs8
The View From Halfway Down, was recorded over three sessions at The Albion Rooms in Margate and produced by Jason Stafford (The Libertines, Jamie T and PREGOBLIN).
For the album Evan Williams has embraced the power of his own narrative and over the course of 10 songs explores themes of love, loss, self-loathing, addiction… and Bojack Horseman.
Evan Williams: "The View From Halfway Down is the coming of age record. It’s a documentation of my stumbling first steps into adulthood and ponderings on the future. It’s about how it feels to try and make a life for yourself in a crumbling industry and an increasingly uncertain future."
