Feel the Fury: Reaper's Revenge Unleashes Fire Force Devil

Reaper’s Revenge ignite a Heavy Metal outcry with Fire Force Devil – a sonic warning against apathy and destruction

When the Fire Force Devil rages, all that remains is scorched earth. Scenarios like these, long present in the world of entertainment, are no longer mere dystopian fiction. Our world is burning—both literally and metaphorically. Forests fall prey to flames, glaciers melt under the heat of our indifference. It is this theme that the Bavarian heavy metal band Reaper’s Revenge tackles on their new EP “Fireforce Devil”—a forceful warning against the fire demon of destruction and the zeitgeist of apathy in modern society. Visually, the three-track release is accompanied by dedicated music videos created by Sebastian Bockisch and Benedikt Bokisch of DigitalstandART.

Following a lineup change in 2024, guitarist Christopher "Flex" Knauer took over lead vocals from Christian Bösl, transforming Reaper’s Revenge into a four-piece band based in the greater Nuremberg area.

The current lineup—Christopher Knauer (lead vocals & guitar), Hermann Weiß (guitar), Christian Oppel (bass), and Thomas Seiferlein (drums)—has performed several concerts since March 2024, including a show on March 9 in Burglengenfeld alongside Bad Hoven and Wanted Inc., and a slot at the Krach Open Air on July 20. Another highlight came on November 3, when Reaper’s Revenge supported Mystic Prophecy as part of their Hellfire Tour at the VAZ Burglengenfeld, alongside Iron Savior.

In January 2025, Reaper’s Revenge signed a record deal with German label NRT-Records. To mark this new partnership, the band released a remastered compilation of all their past music videos in 4K via NRT-Records’ official YouTube channel on January 24, 2025. Together with labelmates Uzziel, as well as Exorcist and Burning Head, the band performed on March 15 at the Amberg Metal Mayhem festival at JUZ Klärwerk.

On July 11, 2025, Reaper’s Revenge released “Wisdom Drug”, the first single and music video from “Fire Force Devil”, offering a taste of what’s to come. The full EP will be released on August 15, 2025, marking the band’s first new material since their 2021 album “Versus”. In addition to the title track “Fire Force Devil”, which takes a critical look at ecological irresponsibility, the EP includes the socially conscious single Wisdom Drug and Faults Proceeding—a cautionary take on the growing power of artificial intelligence.

Formed in 2013 in Amberg, Bavaria, Reaper’s Revenge stands for old-school heavy metal, enriched with influences from power and thrash metal. From the outset, the band has placed strong emphasis on serious, socially critical lyrics, deliberately avoiding stereotypical metal clichés. The original lineup—Christopher Knauer (guitar), Christian Bösl (vocals), Dominique Hoffmann (bass), and Klaus Hegen (drums)—released their self-produced demo followed by their debut album “The Wall of Fear and Darkness” in 2014. Live shows alongside Axxis and Majesty quickly earned them a reputation as a powerful live act.

After initial lineup changes—Hermann Weiß replaced Philipp Wein on guitar, Thomas Seiferlein took over drums from Stephan Hauer, and Christian Oppel joined on bass—the band released their second album “Virtual Impulse” in 2018. This record leaned further into anthemic power metal, with tracks like “What Have I Done” and “Bringer of Light” becoming fan favorites. In 2019, they released the single “Changing World” as a preview of their third album, “Versus”, which was later promoted with video singles “Phlegmatrix”, “Warheads”, and the ballad “My Fading Silence”.

On October 8, 2021, “Versus” was officially released and praised by critics for balancing tradition and progression. Appearances at Mosh Open AirMetal im Woid, and their 10th stage anniversary in December 2023 further cemented the band’s reputation as a reliable live force. Shortly thereafter, lead singer Christian Bösl unexpectedly left the band, with guitarist Christopher Knauer stepping up as frontman.

The new four-piece lineup returned to the stage on March 9, 2024, performed at Krach Open Air in the summer, and shared the stage with Swedish metal band Ambush in Weiden. Another major milestone followed on November 3, 2024, when Reaper’s Revenge supported Mystic Prophecy at VAZ Burglengenfeld alongside Iron Savior.

In January 2025, the band signed to German independent label NRT-Records. On January 24, the band’s complete video catalog was released in remastered 4K versions via the label’s YouTube channel. Their first hometown show after signing the deal was on March 15, 2025, at “Metal Mayhem Amberg”, where they performed with Exorcist, Burning Head, and fellow NRT-Records act Uzziel.

With “Wisdom Drug”, released on July 11, Reaper’s Revenge offered an audiovisual critique of fake news and the empathy-deprived lethargy of the Facebook generation.

With “Fire Force Devil” and the accompanying EP, Reaper’s Revenge now turn the page to a new chapter in their story—issuing sharp criticism of social structures, a lack of empathy, and the looming shadows of a dystopian future. The music video for the title track also premieres on the day of release. The cover artwork—like the music videos—was created by DigitalstandART.

Friends of heavy metal can mark August 15, 2025 in their calendars: That’s when Fire Force Devil will be released via NRT-Records, including accompanying music videos.
