Like a squirrel preparing its larder before winter, Floral Image proudly unveil their new e.p Deeper Down Meadowland to see you through the dark days of winter. The same sessions that birthed their debut album proved a prosperous forage of musical inspiration and these songs were the hardy acorns for post-equinox feasting.
Thieves delivers 4 minutes of acoustic, blues-tinged chugging; On A Feeling douses eastern-inspired melodies over its rapturous rhythm and Spiraline haunts with its ominous mood before releasing a cathartic crescendo of riffing that partners the introspective lyricism the band is known for. Live takes of four fan favourites from Gone Down Meadowland bring the e.p to a close featuring a full 8-minute extension of Tiergarten, showcasing the groups indulgence for animate and dynamic progression.

Vocalist and keyboard player Jack Warner says of the track…
“Crisis? What crisis? Here we are, blissfully cruising, head-first, into our climate emergency without a care. Swim suits on, helmets shut; let’s take a deep dive into our privatised individualism. Or at least that’s what they want you to think. It’s time to listen to our true leader, Mother Nature, not the touchy-feely, snappy, grabby money crabs. This song is an invitation to turn off your phones, get out into nature - breathe - and reconnect to the only home we will ever know, the Pale Blue Dot. Go find a whale and give it some love…they’re waiting for you on the rainbow road.”
Such is the notoriety of the groups live tenacity, this November sees a ripe occasion for the more motorik-minded of psych aficionados as the band support Japanese kraut outfit Minami Deutsch on a full run of U.K dates.
There is a mischief and daydream to the character of Floral Image, the playful fraternity of band members Fergus Nolan (vocals, guitars), Jack Warner (vocals, keys), Matt Kennedy (bass guitar), Mitch Forsyth (drums, visuals), & Phil Whitton (guitars, visuals), preludes the ever-weaving textures they make together. It is an infrastructure that is unstructured; a flowing alchemy that bends and grows and shifts between light, dark, malaise, excitement. There are moments of head-down ferocity and, right there beside them, pools of pulsing wonderment. Fist and feather, hand in hand.
