Genre-Defying Liverpool Band With Stevie Nicks Vocals And Nirvana Instrumental - Clockwork Animals share 'Anhedonia'

CLOCKWORK ANIMALS are the genre defying 3 piece Liverpool based band who are proving once again that there’s definitely something in the water up there with their amalgamation of alternative rock, post-punk, shoegaze, dream pop and gothic rock melodies.

Fronted by the dual vocal combination of Jack Tully (Guitars) and Elena Auddino (Bass) and completed by Ashley Hargreaves (Drums) they released their debut single ‘Jonic’ in December 2024.

While ‘Jonic’ is filled with searing guitars and explosive fuzz laden chords, the follow up single of ‘Walking Shadows’ from January 2025 is in contrast a slow burning track that eerily builds with verses that crawl with layered guitars and melodic chorus sections.

The band say their influences range massively taking in inspiration from the likes of Siouxsie and the Banshees, DIIV, My Bloody Valentine, Killing Joke and Nirvana amongst others all while adding in their own unique spin on things resulting in a truly refreshing sonic soundscape for the modern age.

Following the success of their first two single releases, Clockwork Animals are now back with their latest offering of ‘Anhedonia’.

‘Anhedonia’ is a change up yet again for the band, really showing the ability they have as musicians to switch and play around with their sound and style  so effortlessly.

Starting of with a very Nirvana esque grunge influenced backing melody of the more delicate variety with paired back guitar chords and tickling drums, you’re almost waiting for the heavy weight instrumentals to kick in when instead you are met with gorgeous and harmonious vocals befitting of Stevie Nicks in the height of her Fleetwood Mac era.

The track sways along most pleasantly with each element knowing its part in the overall scheme and playing it to perfection. The instrumentals are intricate, but not in a way to be at all overwhelming, and the vocals are really allowed to take centre stage on this track where they rightly belong.

‘Anhedonia’ was entirely composed by Jack Tully (including all the guitar parts) and Elena Auddino wrote the bass parts and the lyrics with Ashley Hargreaves composing the drums parts. The track was recorded at Soundhouse Studios in Liverpool and was mixed and produced by Dave Pemberton (Prodigy, Kasabian, Manic Street Preachers).
