Second taste of the band’s upcoming second album – out early 2026
German punk rock powerhouse MELONBALL are back with a vengeance on their new single, “129”, out today on Thousand Islands Records (CAN) and Rookie Records (GER). The track offers a second taste of their highly anticipated sophomore album, due in early 2026.
“129” is as political as it is punchy. The song directly confronts §129 of the German Criminal Code, a law ostensibly designed to protect against organized crime but one long criticized for being weaponized against antifascist structures and grassroots resistance. With driving riffs, rapid-fire rhythms, and layered vocal urgency, MELONBALL deliver a blistering reminder that laws and police power often serve to preserve existing hierarchies rather than protect the people.
“With ‘129’ we wanted to call out the way this law has been used to intimidate and dismantle antifascist movements,” the band explains. “It’s more important than ever to stand in solidarity. Antifa unite!”
Musically, “129” is MELONBALL at their sharpest: fast, technical, and packed with soaring melodies atop razor-edged guitar work and relentless drumming. The track embodies the band’s signature blend of high-octane hooks and uncompromising political firepower.
Since their formation, MELONBALL have carved a place for themselves on both European and international stages. They’ve performed at Ruhrpott Rodeo, Manchester Punk Festival, Mighty Sounds, Mission Ready, Punk Rock Holiday, and Music 4 Cancer, and have shared lineups with the likes of A Wilhelm Scream, Lagwagon, Belvedere, Authority Zero, ZSK, Punk Rock Factory, and The Iron Roses.
The band toured the UK in 2023, followed by a 10-show run across Eastern Canada in 2024, and are gearing up for a short November 2024 tour with Satanic Surfers. Their acclaimed debut album BREATHE (2023, Thousand Islands Records / Lockjaw Records) was followed by the acoustic EP eup•nea in 2024, setting the stage for their upcoming full-length.
With their second album slated for early 2026 on Thousand Islands Records (CAN) and Rookie Records (GER), MELONBALL are ready to push their sound—and their message—even further.
