Announce signing to Carpark Records

Good Flying Birds is a jangling, noisy guitar-pop group based in the Midwest, USA. It began in December 2023 with a collection of 4-track cassette recordings and stop-motion videos uploaded to YouTube under the name “Talulah God,” along with a chaotic and colorful, GIF-infested website.

A limited edition cassette called Talulah’s Tape was released in early 2025 with the help of St Louis DIY label Rotten Apple. It showcased a wide-ranging love for the history of independent guitar music, clever and melodic songwriting, and an approachable twee-punk charm and made an immediate splash in underground circles, selling 300 cassettes in under a month, and led to the band sharing stages with acts like Sharp Pins, Wishy, Pardoner, Horsegirl, and Golomb.

Today, Good Flying Birds are announcing their signing to Carpark and Smoking Room, and sharing the new single "Eric's Eyes," along with its accompanying video.

The influence of jangly lo-fi/DIY heavyweights who came before like Guided By Voices (their namesake), Beat Happening, DLIMC, Talulah Gosh (their former namesake), and The Vaselines, is prevalent, but Good Flying Birds carry a unique charm all their own. It’s the sound of looking at a crumbling world with rosy cheeks and wide eyes, a tambourine by your side.

"Eric's Eyes" provides a perfect introduction to the band's antic jangle pop, stuffed with melody and leavening its twee harmonies with a forceful edge, the track feels like an expertly guided tour of 4 decades of guitar pop traversed in an action-packed 3 and a half minutes.

Good Flying Bird's leader Kellen Baker says of the track:

"Has the world had enough of silly love songs?? We are asking once more. Written and recorded quickly on a rainy autumn evening. An utterly ridiculous moment of innocent infatuation through the lens of mad planets, early mbv, and rocketship, or at least that was the intention.“
