Happy Little Clouds release singl "Clear and Present Danger" via The Sound Cove

A powerful message for strange times, this bold new track reflects the urgency confronting us all in today’s world. “Clear and Present Danger” is a melodic, post-grunge earworm that takes aim at narcissistic power structures, pairing sharp songwriting with emotional depth. Showcasing Jac Mestel’s heartfelt vocals and lyrical storytelling, Derek Bergstrom’s ethereal bass soundscape, and a powerhouse drum performance from Jess Townsend, this new single evokes shades of Steve Lillywhite era U2, with nods to Gang of Four, Public Image, Ltd., XTC and the Buzzcocks. It is a formidable track, with Jac Mestel providing a frenetic solo that could have been ripped straight from the Lou Reed/Robert Quine era. Jac Mestel has this to say about the new single:
“This topic feels super relevant right now. We all know one– a boss, or a former partner, a present partner, a relative, a politician. Narcissists with their charm and fan clubs leave us asking those adoring fans, ‘HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS?’” Jess Townsend adds this comment regarding the rhythmic pulse of the track, “This is the drum beat that I’m most proud of to date. I have always wanted to incorporate a linear beat and I worked really hard with the dynamics to make this one groove.”
