Drawing on a deep well of personal experience to tell urgent tales from Britain’s frontline against hopelessness, addiction and benefits dependency, the beautiful contradiction of Keyside and their gloriously upbeat, socially conscious songwriting radiates across Rock My Love, the band’s latest single – OUT NOW. No strangers to uncomfortable truths, yet excelling at poetic metaphor, meticulous riffs and earworm chord progressions, the Liverpool four-piece release a vital message on redemption through art.

Rock My Love is revealed just as the band sets out on a first major UK tour, following two years of nascent gigging through small venues, support slots and festival stages. Keyside take to the road for 13 live dates opening at Glasgow’s Oran Mor next Thu 13 November, while their homecoming date at the 1,200 capacity Liverpool O2 Academy the following week has long been sold out. The band’s upcoming show at London’s Camden Assembly is also a lock-out.

Pretence never saved anyone from difficult truths and, while Keyside’s advanced position on the ascent towards wider recognition fills their hearts with hope, it’s singer and songwriter, Dani-Lee Parker and the band’s accepted responsibility to make ‘something worth creating’. In the case of Rock My Love, as with previous and popular, character-based singles such as Nikita and Rhianna Please Don’t Cry, the social realism hits hard.

Stories of abandonment and finding a way out of desperation are sweetly sung over glassy guitar lines and heart-swelling melody. In this respect, the band unapologetically picks up the baton from bands such as The La’s and The Cure at their potent 80’s poppiest.

Parker says of the single: “The character in the song has hit rock bottom, struggling with addiction and unemployed, but she finds a way to live again through a love of photography. It’s autobiographical in some ways as music has been a path to lead me away from being lost on dark roads. I journal a lot, which I started after reading ‘Meditations’ by Marcus Aurelius. By reading I found that I wanted to write. It’s a necessity for me and out of that habit that the lyrics for songs like this can turn into songs.”

By transforming personal family experiences into hope-laden stories, each transported on transcendent melody, the connection between Keyside and their audience is deepening song-by-song and gig-by-gig.

“This song has already had a really good reception live,” continues Parker. “We’ve had messages from people saying how they’ve connected with the song, like the line “I cried on the 4th of November” being significant because their loved one died on that date. Not all our songs have to be deadly serious, but we need to make something worth creating. It’s the reason we do it.”

Completed by Ben Cassidy (lead guitar), Max Gibson (bass, backing vocals) and Oisin McAvoy (drums), Keyside are expected to draw a line under an eventful 2025 with Rock My Love before their next chapter begins. Following their February Michael (What’s Your Call?) EP and a summertime single, If You Don’t Try, the band also enjoyed the spotlight of major indoor and outdoor shows including BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Sound City and tour dates with The Wombats and main support for Red Rum Club.

Stirring enough feelings to fill rooms twice as big, yet taking every giant step with humility at their heart, all of Keyside’s upcoming winter UK Tour dates are as follows:
