Heybobby! Release New Song & Video “Function Of Friction” - Debut Album Arrives March 2026

The Bay Area-based theatrical rock collective HeyBobby! releases song and video for “Function of Friction” on December 5. The song is from their debut, a concept album The Unclouding of Otilla Vanilla, that will drop in March 2026.

The Unclouding of Otilla Vanilla is a 12-track rock opera following Otilla Vanilla, a rising singer searching for meaning, connection, and identity. Written, performed, and produced entirely by humans, the project incorporates artificial intelligence to create characters and avatars that expand the album’s world visually. Every track will be accompanied by its own video episode.

HeyBobby! introduces a new voice in rock ’n’ roll storytelling, blending cinematic rock with layered songwriting and immersive visuals. They write, perform, and produce every aspect of the project, grounding their work in human expression. Real instruments, real voices, real emotion. While the project embraces innovative tools such as artistic AI, it also makes space for traditional, human-crafted creative elements. The result is a hybrid art form where music, technology, and imagination work together to build characters and worlds.

In The Unclouding of Otilla Vanilla, the narrative centers on Otilla’s rise and unraveling as she attracts the attention of Vivienne St. Clair aka “Big Shooter,” a magnetic yet potentially dangerous music promoter. Pulled into a world that blurs the line between empowerment and exploitation. When asked about “Function of Friction,” the artist shared, “The Big Shooter has a few sexual lessons for the very innocent and naive Otilla”.

HeyBobby! invites audiences not just to hear an album, but to step inside a fully imagined universe where rock and theater collide.
