Introducing…. Anders L. Rasmussen

After years of pushing heavy riffs in Ohmwork, Anders L. Rasmussen is stepping into something different—quieter, more introspective, yet still deeply rooted in his love for music. His solo project is a chance to explore a new side of songwriting, where rock meets Americana and the raw energy of creativity takes center stage. In this chat, he talks about his influences, songwriting process, and the exciting road ahead.

Click Roll Boom: Tell me about how you got started?

Anders L. Rasmussen: After 14 years rocking my socks off in Ohmwork, a metal/stoner/doom trio, it was time to broaden my musical outlet. The solo project is much calmer—something I’ve dreamed about for a long time. That said, Ohmwork is still alive and well, but now I have the freedom to switch depending on whether I want to rock hard or play calm tunes on my acoustic guitar.

CRB: How would you describe your sound, and how has it evolved since you first started?

ALP: Difficult to answer. I just play what I feel. There’s always an element of rock, a touch of Americana here and there, and some singer-songwriter stuff tucked in too.

CRB: Who or what have been some of your biggest influences, musically and beyond?

ALP: No one in particular. I just love to express myself and let off steam. I like putting feelings into lyrics, while keeping a certain distance. The lyrics shouldn’t be too specific—they should be open to different interpretations, depending on who's listening. And I just love being creative! I need to keep moving, making new songs, trying out ideas, and keeping it flowing.

CRB: What does your songwriting process typically look like – is it a more individual or collaborative effort?

ALP: Writing comes naturally to me. Nothing is forced—I write when I’m in the mood and when ideas just pop out. Sometimes I write alone, sometimes it’s a collaboration. Both are fun! When I stumble upon the “good stuff,” I record it right away—could be a verse, a riff, or a melody. I give it a rest for a couple of days, and if it still sounds good, I try to build a song around it.

CRB: How do you approach experimenting with new sounds or ideas when creating music?

ALP: If something cool happens, there are no rules. As long as it fits the song—bring it on! This solo project is an experiment in itself. It’s new territory for me.

CRB: What’s been one of the most memorable moments in your journey so far?

ALP: Getting the songs on tape. Listening back to them when they’re freshly mixed makes me happy and proud. It’s still early days, so hopefully many more memorable moments to come!

CRB: How do you prepare for live shows, and what do you aim to bring to your performances?

ALP:I just make sure I’m ready—mentally and physically. I try to relax before the show and have fun on stage.

CRB: How do you balance creative expression with staying connected to your audience?

ALP: I try to stay true to my own voice while always being aware of how the music resonates with others.

CRB: What do you hope listeners take away from your work?

ALP: I hope they feel something real—whether it’s comfort, energy, or a sense of connection.

CRB: What does the future hold for you – any plans or goals you’re excited about?

ALP: I’m in the mixing and mastering stages now and looking forward to sharing more music! The album’s coming in November—hopefully—and I plan to play live as much as possible. Next show’s in August, and I hope there’ll be more this fall.
