Speaking about Masses In Glasses, The Baxbys said “We recorded it in The Baxbys’ makeshift home studio in Amherst, Massachusetts and it was produced by David Greenbaum. The song inverts conventional tropes about romantic praise. With its atmospheric yet tight production, it follows one member’s post-breakup flings which revealed the arrogance of “the masses” and highlighted the depth of a former partner.”
Formed in basements of Amherst, Massachusetts, The Baxbys, consists of guitarist and vocalist Alex Nordlund, 24 guitarist James Miller, 23, Drummer Chris Sciucco and Bass player Spencer Rosenfeld, 23. They cite The Cure, The Smiths, Pixies, Weezer and The Strokes as some of their musical influences. Asked about their process to making music, they explain “Typically the best ideas come from some indescribable mysterious place. I guess you can call that your subconscious. It’s just about writing down/recording those feelings and ideas. The 4-piece band sold out the Mercury Lounge in NYC last year.
“Masses in Glasses” is the second single from The Baxbys’ debut album, following “In a Cage.” Details to follow shortly.
