La Flemme release debut “La Fête” album
"La Fête," La Flemme's debut album, is an explosion of garage pop tinged with psychedelia and rooted in the spirit of Marseilles. Comprising nine tracks, the album explores the paradoxes of post-adolescent life, between frenzy and weariness, euphoria and melancholy. From fuzz guitar riffs to heady melodies, psychedelic atmospheres, and frenetic rhythms, "La Fête" is an invitation to dance, reflect, and get carried away.
Recorded between the Tandem SMAC studio in Toulon and the Zig Zag studio in Marseille, the album was produced with particular attention to sound textures, to create rich, immersive landscapes. The lyrics, sometimes introspective, sometimes exuberant, reflect the ups and downs of everyday life while retaining a resolutely festive tone.
With tracks such as Demain, about the eternal recommencement of party nights, and Sans Fond, a critique of empty conversations, La Flemme proves that it masters both the art of melody and the art of message. The cover, designed by Salomé Lahoche, perfectly captures the spirit of the album: colourful, energetic, and crazy.
Eclectic and energetic, "La Fête" explores different facets of rock, from the raw energy of garage rock to more melancholy, almost shoegaze moments, via psychedelic passages tinged with stoner. Driven by powerful riffs, catchy pop melodies, and infectious choruses, this album tells the story of an evening, from initial excitement to weariness, through the desire to escape and reconnect.
Inspired by the current French rock scene, and Marseille in particular, La Flemme is a tribute to simplicity and authenticity. The band's varied influences, from garage rock to pop to psychedelia, combine to create a unique sound that is both raw and refined.
With tracks like Marre de vous and Laissez-moi tranquille, the album captures the spirit of a generation torn between the desire to have fun and the need to find themselves. "La Fête" is more than an album—it's a sonic experience that puts La Flemme at the heart of the new French rock scene, with Marseille at its epicentre. Get ready to dance, think, and, above all, let yourself be carried away by this sonic adventure.
Bio:
La Flemme is a flashy hurricane that has shaken up the French musical landscape, sweeping everything in its path in a deluge of garage pop sounds and psychedelic textures.
Hailing from Marseilles, these young members have already worn out the boards of French concert halls, each having built up solid musical experience in various formations. Jules, Stella, Charles, and Ronie are respectively associated with Technopolice, Flathead, Tense of Fools, Avenoir, and Tessina.
This small group decided to combine their talents one night, presumably after a few drinks, with the strange aim of putting together something that would stand up on stage barely two months later. The result was an irresistibly easy-going, laid-back band, effortlessly churning out frenetic compositions of unfailing immediacy—the kind that will linger in even the most selective auditory memories.
At once crazy and square, introspective and exuberant, the quartet draws its inspiration from the ups and downs of its post-teen daily life and takes a definite pleasure in cultivating paradoxes—right down to its name, which doesn't quite match the venereal energy of its compositions. In short, La Flemme seem hell-bent on making the city of Marseille the new capital of French rock—it sounds like a joke, but listening to their debut album, La Fête, you'd think they could pull it off.
In barely a year of existence, La Flemme have already imposed their frenetic pace and infectious energy on the French music scene. Their debut album, La Fête, arrives on April 25, promising an explosion of garage pop sounds that perfectly encapsulate their audacity and talent. But even before the release of this long-awaited project, the Marseilles quartet has already made its mark: winner of the Inrocks Super Club, and therefore on the bill for the Inrocks Festival 2025, an appearance on the TV show Quotidien; La Flemme has made a place for itself in the sun in record time.
