Midlands crossover crew Last Hounds hit hard with new single ‘Word’s Disease’, an instant modern hardcore classic that combines bulldozer riffs with anthemic choruses.

World’s Disease is about the uneasy space between personal change and a world that feels like it’s falling apart”, explains frontman Mikey Skelcher. “It’s the moment you stop and wonder, are things really getting worse, or am I just seeing them differently? As we get older, our sense of what matters shifts. Sometimes we care too much, sometimes not enough, and it’s hard to know if that’s self-protection or just how we adapt to a tougher world. At its core, it’s about burnout, fake smiles, the sound of trying to figure out if you’re losing faith or just finally seeing things for how they really are.”

World’s Disease is the first piece of new music since the Growing Pains EP, released earlier this year, ahead of a Summer that saw the Birmingham five piece tour with letlive. and conquer festival stages across Europe. Starting with Hellfest, France, and ending with Tundra and Lightning Festival, Norway, it’s been a hell of a ride as bass player Ben Taylor tells us.

“Hellfest was straight-up chaos! Hitting the Warzone stage alongside the likes of The Chisel, Stick to Your Guns, and Turnstile was the stuff of dreams. We somehow sparked a wall of death at 11am.  That clip blew up on Instagram and ever since, people keep shouting “Wall of death!” at our shows. Guess that’s our thing now?!

It wasn’t Last Hounds first trip to France, but it was their first visit to Norway, and that provided a fresh insight into how their music was being received internationally as Taylor continues.

“That weekend hit different. There was this genuine buzz in the air before we even walked on stage. Packed room, front to back, people already in Last Hounds tees, ready to go off. We left that stage completely speechless. The energy in that room was unreal. Norway was something special.”

Over the years Last Hounds have relentlessly honed their craft, with debut album ‘Burden’ (2021, Venn Records) setting the tone for their swagger fuelled punk and high-octane anthems. This sound that the band describe as ‘crossover’, steps into more diverse genres like hip-hop, breakbeat and nu-metal. This December will see the band embark on their first national headline tour, a chance for Last Hounds to demonstrate their live prowess and bring some Winter chaos to the UK!
