Manchester quartet pyncher dive into shoegaze with reflective single “At The Seaside” following UK tour and sell-out hometown shows
“pyncher’s live set is 40 minutes of bangers” Emily Pilbeam, BBC Radio 6Music
“The band’s caustic noise defies categorisation” CLASH Magazine
“Soon enough, it will be impossible to see them in rooms so intimate.” Indie Is Not A Genre
Their most brooding cut to date, Manchester favourites pyncher continue to inhabit their strange and beautifully bizarre indie-rock landscapes on latest single ‘At The Seaside’ - out today (11th June).
Sustaining their dextrous, cross-genre flair that “defies categorization” (CLASH), “At the Seaside's suspenseful slow-burn mutates from gothic unease to expansive shoegaze-rock and back again, seeing the band continuing to build on their ever-growing cult following in the UK and beyond.
The band’s third release of the year comes in an already busy 2025 that has ushered in three sold-out hometown headline shows, multiple plays on BBC Radio 6Music (Emily Pilbeam, Indie Forever, Amy Lamé, New Music Fix), Radio X (X-Posure Playlist), Steve Lamacq, as well as press backing from key tastemakers like DIY, OMEN, CLASH, Rough Trade and Far Out.
Having previously shared stages with likes of English Teacher, TTSSFU, Maruja, Been Stellar and Ulrika Spacek, the band’s live schedule continues with slots at Brighton Psych Fest and Sheffield’s Float Along already lined up for later in the year.
Discussing more on the track, guitarist/lead vocalist Sam Blakeley says: ‘
"We didn’t try to overthink this one while writing it, but looking back, At The Seaside is about trying to let go of the past and realising it’s still lingering in your head. It’s a raw one, and I think because of that, there’s some honesty there - it holds a special place for all four of us. We recorded it at Eve Studios, surrounded by old analogue gear. I ended up singing into a mic once used by a Spanish crooner in the ’70s, which felt fitting. It’s also the first track where Britt wrote and sang the chorus - something we’ve been wanting to do for a while."
