Manchesters LUCIGENIC share single ‘COMFORT ZONE’

"Nice reverent production suits the guitar driven style and big melody that fills the chorus, agreeably loud, melodic and bristling with energy and attitude" - BBC6 Introducing

"Lucy Davies channels Debbie Harry-esque vocals .....sure to bring a smile to your face".  - JOYZINE

"A sound that is both haunting and entrancing " MUSIC N GEAR

"Davies's vocals are a joy to behold ... flourishes of Bowie and Patti Smith" - TRAVELLERS TUNES

LUCIGENIC are the Manchester based collective, fronted by key members Lucy Davies Wyatt (vocals/songwriter) and Gary Wyatt (guitar/keys/songwriter) whose passion for hypnotic post punk flavours mixed with swirling melody and dream pop ambience, aim to create a distillation of Patti Smith, Blondie, Velvet Underground and Mazzy Star,  whom they take great inspiration from.

Recent releases feature Mark Refoy (Spiritualized/Spacemen 3) Dave Barbarossa (Bow Wow Wow/Republica/John Dwyer) and Simon Wolstencroft (The Fall/lan Brown/HOA) with whom they co-wrote their latest release 'Comfort Zone'

The outfit also worked with esteemed Producers Mike Bennett (The Fall, lan Brown) and David Tolan (Tori Amos, Charlatans, Denise Johnson) on their previous releases 'Hope' and 'STAR'.

Lucigenic also recently supported Dick Valentine (Electric 6) on his solo tour and their first vinyl Album is set for release later on this year, with launch events planned at Night & Day Manchester and Troubadour in London.

The latest single to be released under the ‘Lucigenic’ branding is the ethereal offering of  ‘Comfort Zone’ with its haunting melodies complimented by mesmerising vocals and with swirling fluidity, the track progresses at ease, ebbing and flowing like the tide between the gentile stylings of the verses and the powerful hook laden choruses.

The track was co-written with Manchester drumming legend Simon Wolstencroft (The Fall/lan Brown/HOA) who also plays drums on the track. Also featured on the track is Mark Woolfenden on bass.

Lead singer / songwriter Lucy has said of the new track:-

“This track was for a while there, just a 'work in progress' piece composed by myself and Gary Wyatt that finally found its potential and direction with Simon's creative input.

The track’s sentiment reflects on unfulfilled ambition, dreams from self doubt and wasted opportunities from fear of stepping out of your 'Comfort Zone' with full circle self reflection of always craving more and wondering what could have been …. ‘Pleasures Unknown’….”

‘Comfort Zone’ was recorded at Hope Recording Studio in Manchester, was Produced by ‘Twem’ (Thomas Twemlow)  and Engineered /Mixed by Tomos Huw Williams.

‘Comfort Zone’ is also being released with an official music video which you can watch HERE NOW
