Marie Franc Releases New Single ‘Loungewear’ Ahead of Debut EP ‘Saturday Boy’

Emerging from Manchester’s thriving indie scene, Marie Franc were a five-piece band weaving sultry guitar lines, hypnotic bass grooves, and emotive vocals into their single, Loungewear – released on 25th July 2025 across all streaming platforms.

Previously described as “buttery warm but sharp as ice,” Loungewear was indicative of Marie Franc’s signature blend: fire-dancing, hypnotic delicacy meets French jazz room swagger. Led by kite-like vocals – they were often free, excited, and brave – yet grounded by a sumptuous, understated belly of soft soul.

Marie Franc were a Manchester-based dream pop band weaving ethereal soundscapes with hypnotic rhythms and lush, reverb-soaked melodies. Blending melancholy with moments of euphoria, their sound was both immersive and transportive. With influences from ‘90s shoegaze and modern indie atmospherics, they appealed to fans of ALVVAYS, Lianne La Havas, Aldous Harding, and Drugdealer, crafting their fresh sound with effortless cool.

The track was co-written by the band and co-produced with Mike Duce (Lower Than Atlantis) between The Joplin House and Duce’s Kent studio, marking a bold new step in the group’s sonic journey.

Their growth was evident across their catalogue – from the stripped-down folk of 2022’s Birthday EP to the richer, bolder production on Alice and Dirty Hands, recorded in 2024. Their music balanced indie, country, soul, and folk-pop – drawing comparisons to Weyes Blood, Faye Webster, and Mac DeMarco.

Having recently sold out The Eagle Inn in Manchester, Marie Franc were winning over crowds with a live show that was as heartfelt as it was intoxicating.
