MAY-A
ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM
GOODBYE (IF YOU CALL THAT GONE) OUT FEBRUARY 13 2026
DIGS HER ‘CLAWS’ IN WITH BITING LEAD SINGLE
“a fresh and exciting alt-pop star on the rise” - DORK
“MAY-A pushes the limits of guitar-pop” - NME
“MAY-A’s music is expanding mindsets” - Harper’s BAZAAR
“MAY-A is making up her own rules, and ruling the music business because of it” - Grazia
Over the last two years, MAY-A has travelled back-and-forth between Sydney and LA, finding inspiration, working with top tier musicians and discovering new sounds to help carefully curate her next era of music, her best era of music.
Today, the genre-defying artist announces her debut album, Goodbye (If You Call That Gone), will be released on February 13, 2026.
Fans have been treated to another taste of the forthcoming record, with the release of ‘Claws’ and its official video today (watch here). It follows last month's guitar-led pop rock queer anthem ‘(I'm here for the) GIRLS’ and ‘[REDACTED]’, which launched MAY-A’s new music in September.
On ‘Claws’, she states, “This song is about being under-estimated and under-appreciated. Feeling betrayed in general, feeling like justice is never served. It’s about getting your bite back after feeling wronged.”

Across her career, MAY-A has constantly pushed boundaries and blurred the lines between pop, rock, indie and alternative genres. Known for her intimate, relatable songwriting and catchy hooks, Goodbye (If You Call That Gone) is a bold declaration of her independence, power, artistry and creativity - and is elevated through its impressive list of collaborators like Carlos De La Garza (Paramore), Chris Greatti (Yungblud, Willow) and Rock n Roll Hall of Fame drummer, Ilan Rubi (Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails).
"Goodbye (If You Call that Gone), is a mirror of the healing process in all its complexity, an amalgamation of loss, betrayal, anger, resentment, and, most importantly, the quiet triumph of moving through what once felt impossible” MAY-A muses.
“When people talk about change, they often skip over the uncomfortable, messy parts. This record doesn’t. It dives into the raw, unfiltered emotions that come with transformation, amplifying the darkness that in turn, makes the light mean something.
This album wasn’t easy to write, there were definitely points where giving up felt easier than pushing through, but I needed the catharsis, it is a representation of a time in my life and the emotions I was dealing with.
I wanted to take listeners on a journey. We’ve all had someone who’s made us feel small, stripped us of who we thought we were, until we barely recognised ourselves. This record is about finding your way back from that."

It’s been a busy 12 months for the Australian singer/songwriter; she opened for UK outfit Glass Animals on their Australian headline tour in 2024. She played to a roaring crowd at Yours & Owls in March this year and was handpicked by Cyndi Lauper to sing ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ on stage at her sold-out Sydney show. MAY-A and the MAY-A band (Chloe Dadd and G on the Drums) will take the new songs to the stage at Rolling Sets in Tweed Heads on November 29 and the Central Coast on December 6. Ticket information here. She has previously toured with the likes of Wallows on their 2023 UK run, 5 Seconds of Summer, Nessa Barrett and sold out her first and most recent UK headline show at London’s Camden Assembly.
