Mid Wales & Bristol based Alternative Rock band MOLETRAP today release their patriotic new 5 track EP entitled 'Mid Welsh, Pt. 1'
Reviews of MOLETRAP, describe their music as a unique blend of melodic pop and thundering guitars with a dynamic, heavy sound. Their singles, such as "Rhagofn" and "Middle of the Land," are praised for powerful vocals, crunchy grooves, and lyrics steeped in Welsh heritage and the resilience of Mid Wales. Critics have highlighted the band's exploration of identity, bilingual lyrics, and exciting, pulse-quickening sound, with BBC Introducing praising their music as 'un-ignorably great, a thousand mosh-pits await!'

The band added:
"Mid Welsh part 1 is a collection of five songs about Mid Wales and what it means, to us, to be Mid-Walian. It has been an unexpected journey, from jam sessions to something more meaningful - a chance to deepen our connections with our homes. We met in Welsh-language school where, at the time, we couldn't wait to leave 'the least inhabited area of Wales and England', and we rejected the Welsh we were taught in the classroom. But over two decades, and with the release of music, has come change - we've read our history, explored the nooks and crannies of the Cambrians, got political and recognised the colonisation of Wales and the historic attempts to delete the Welsh language."
"We've lived through the ongoing attempts to transform Mid Wales into an asset for the wealthy, and a Disneyland tourist attraction for the masses. Mid Welsh part 1 is our beginning and where we found our true voice. We are so grateful to the process and the way it has shaped our thinking."
MOLETRAP BIO
We're three friends from three rural villages in Mid Wales. Our soon-to-be-released, frenetic debut EP is us trying to capture the untamed and often overlooked centre of Wales, and an attempt to break the stereotype of Mid Wales as being a tranquil, quiet area. We always aim to sound like the Cambrian Mountains rumbling and crashing around.
We want to promote the Welsh language and connect people at our gigs to our area's expansive, wild freedom. We sing, in Welsh and English, about the history, places, people, progress, nature and folklore in the area. Making and writing music from our cabin allows us to continue exploring our homes in the Green Desert of Wales - the least inhabited area in southern Britain. The first two singles released from the EP were 'Nation of Sanctuary' - a celebration of Wales' inclusive history and ambitions, and 'Rhagofn' (Welsh for 'in case' or for 'without/lest there be fear') - a reminder of how much more work there is to do.The singles were partially funded by BBC Horizons / Gorwelion. Thank you so much!
Diolch o galon!
'They are un-ignorably great. A thousand mosh pits await!'
Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
'They have ruptured my eardrums, but in a postive way!'
Amy Lame, BBC 6 Music
'Harmonised vocals have almost choral, angelic tone before heavy duty choruses kick the trajectory sideways. It’s pulse quickening stuff and signs of
something very exciting'
