NYC alt-rock outfit Native Sun share their buoyant, dynamic new single ‘Squash’, out now via TODO.

Marking the second preview from their forthcoming debut album arriving later this year, the group’s latest release follows spring offering ‘I Need Nothing’, and further channels the raw, hedonistic energy and rebellious spirit of early punk and garage rock, coupled with Native Sun’s trademark melodic/art-rock sensibilities.

Fronted by Colombian-born Danny Gomez (vox/guitar) alongside Justin Barry (bass/vox), Jack Hiltabidle (guitar), and Argentine-born Nicolas Espinosa (drums), Native Sun is celebrated for their visceral, untamed live shows and Gomez’s socially-charged lyrics that confront reality head-on - channeling disillusionment into action and lovingly documenting the lives of society’s misfits and marginalized.

With a DIY ethos and a devoted following, Native Sun are ready to build on early plaudits throughout the UK and US press landscape (Brooklyn Vegan, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young, FLOOD Magazine, NYLON, Paste, Rolling Stone), whilst on the live front, the four-piece have already played alongside the likes of A Place To Bury Strangers, Bodega, Geese, Indigo de Souza and Nation of Language.

Detailing their newest release, the band stated: “‘Squash’ came to life after a night that bled into morning, wrapped in the quiet shame between the last stragglers of the night and the first workers of the day. It’s that moment of reflection—sparked by sobering daylight, a kind of inner dialogue—when you start to question where your life’s been, what you’ve missed, and what still might be coming—just out of view, but hard to shake.”

Produced and mixed by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Snail Mail, Bodega, The Drums, Pottery) and mastered by Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, IDLES, Future Islands, Vampire Weekend), Native Sun’s ‘Squash’ is out now via TODO and available on all digital platforms.

Native Sun is Danny Gomez (singer/guitarist), Jack Hiltabidle (guitarist), Justin Barry (bassist), Nico Espinosa (drummer)
