“Lo-fi fuzz-kissed dream-pop” So Young Magazine

Brighton indie newcomer Opal Mag shares brand new single ‘I Don’t Like You, but I Love You’ (video here), out today (April 29th).

Fresh from support slots alongside the likes of Black Honey and Phoebe Green, Opal’s slow-burning new track explores the emotional tug-of-war between love and frustration, delving into the internal struggle of being in love with someone, yet disliking their actions and self-sabotaging as a result.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Mazzy Star, The Sundays, The Breeders, and The Smashing Pumpkins, the London-born, Brighton-based artist is quickly making her mark on the indie scene with emotionally charged music, combining dreamy, atmospheric sounds with raw, confessional lyrics.

With praise already arriving from key indie titans including So Young Magazine, as well as international airplay on the likes of BBC 6 Music (Emily Pilbeam), KEXP (Cheryl Waters) and Triple J (Colby Robertson), Opal Mag is primed for several further releases in the coming months, as her live plot continues to develop.

Detailing her new offering, the musician stated: “This slow-burning track explores the emotional tug-of-war between love and frustration. It's about the internal struggle of being in love with someone, yet disliking their actions and self-sabotaging. ‘I Don’t Like You, but I Love You’ is about the push and pull of wanting to stay in a relationship but losing yourself in the process."

Opal Mag’s ‘I Don’t Like You, but I Love You’ is out now and available on all digital platforms.
