On 9th August 2025, Peter Perrett alongside 531 other people was arrested at the protest organised by Defend Our Juries against the proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist group by the English Government.
 
Peter Perrett – who is Jewish – has been supportive of Palestine for numerous years and today, releases new song “PROUD TO BE SELF-HATING (irony and provocation)”. Of the song, Perrett says: “Usually I write music about love and the human condition. However, I haven’t been able to write whilst watching the horrors unfold over the past two years. I needed to write this song; it has been cathartic and exorcised demons."

This single is available to stream globally as Perrett hopes this song will “open hearts everywhere to the genocide happening in Palestine.

About Peter Perrett:
Peter Perrett released his third solo album The Cleansing in November 2024. Alongside his trusted team of sons Jamie (guitar / production) and Peter Jr (bass) plus members of his live band, Perrett was assisted by a roster of guests on The Cleansing including Johnny Marr, Bobby Gillespie, Fontaines D.C.’s Carlos O’Connell and Tom Coll and Dream Wife guitarist Alice Go. It followed 2019’s Humanworld and 2017’s How The West Was Won – the latter of which was his first new release in over 20 years.
Perrett was also the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter for The Only Ones, one of the most distinctive and charismatic of all new wave bands with a thrilling live reputation and creators of the indomitable “Another Girl, Another Planet” - the band thrived from 1976 to 1981. Perrett briefly re-emerged in the mid-90s fronting The One and The Only Ones have played several live shows between 2007 and 2023.
