Pittsburgh Action Rock heroes, The Cheats, return with their long-awaited 6th studio album, Old Rats On A New Ship

The Cheats have been cranking out high-octane punk'n'roll for over 20 years. Toss the Dead Boys and Motorhead into a blender with a pinch of ’77 punk’s tunefulness, and you'll get a taste of the unrelenting rock'n'roll riot forged by these Steel City sleazoids.  Warsaw’s Heavy Medication Records is proud to co-release their long-awaited new album Old Rats On A New Ship with their US label Screaming Crow Records.

After the departure of guitarist Rob Senomar in 2023, The Cheats decided to scrap most of the songs they had written with Rob for their 6th album and start fresh with new guitarist/producer, Johnny Razorblade. Razorblade was already quite close with the band, having produced their 5th album Cussin’, Crying ‘N’ Carrying On (2020), their Action Rock Jukebox single "Rock N Roll Love Letter" (2021) and the covers-only album XXI (2022). With Razorblade as their new guitarist, the band continued to play live and work on new music, finally entering the studio in 2024 to begin recording their strongest material in years. The result of their efforts is the recently released Old Rats On A New Ship.

Old Rats On A New Ship packs 10 catchy new originals and a cover of Anti-Nowhere League's "For You" into a fiery, 30-minute adrenaline assault. (The CD contains two bonus tracks.)  This is cheap beer-soaked, chain-smoked, whiskey-choked, lost-hoped, van-broked, raw and unadulterated rock'n'roll, the way the good Lord intended it, and The Cheats are just doing His dirty work. The cover was designed by Alex Hagen from Baltimore’s likeminded rockers The Ravagers.

The album was released on CD and vinyl in Europe via Heavy Medication Records and in the rest of the world by Screaming Crow Records.
