Hailing from the south coast, this five-piece refuse to bow to convention, delivering passionate vocals, irresistible hooks, and sparring guitars. They successfully mix the pure adrenaline of The Clash with the offbeat eccentricities of Talking Heads, all while keeping the narrative open, resonating with every soul who has ever been misunderstood.
All too rarely a band storms onto the scene and instantly demands attention and PLASTERSUN is one such band with their vibrant, no nonsense offerings of post-punk, indie and garage rock fuelled by anthemic energy and white mesmerizing melodies searing their way into your consciousness.
This is a band that is all about the swagger and the confidence, which they project effortlessly and to a degree way beyond their years. They’re good and they know it!
If it’s been a while since you found a new indie act to get excited about, make today that day with PLASTERSUN.
The latest single to be released from PLASTERSUN is ‘Hunger’ is somewhat of a change of pace for the band starting off with the tantalising melodic strumming of a guitar and a healthy smattering of drums mixed with those relatable story telling, almost poetic, lyrics. The tempo is upped drastically in the chorus with a positively anthemic hook line that totally reels you in. The production of this track is next level, really showcasing what a rare talent this band is.
The band have said of the track:-
“Hunger is about being subdued by an overwhelming desire for something, an all consuming yearning. For me (lyricist) it’s an expression of how badly I want this band to work, or anything I/we do to work. The song is almost from the perspective of a frustrated child, or child within us. It brings me back to being a boy in the countryside, dreaming of tall buildings, red carpets and eccentric party guests. I remember the frustration of those growing pains, they haven’t left me today…not sure they ever will.
The Bukowski poem Bluebird was an inspiration when writing the song. The ‘secret pact’ somebody makes with themselves, the true person and their desires that they push down or drown with whiskey and cigarette smoke, rather than letting it out.
Some of our previous tracks have been inspired by Britpop sensationalism, post punk grit and the sentiments of 2000s garage rock, however this song pulls its inspirations from Pornography era Cure, modern british punk revival and the dark but pretty tones of Pixies.”
‘Hunger’ was written by Fergus Mclean (Lyrics), Oliver White (Lead musical composer) and Stephen Baker, Valentina Longo and Rai Owen (joint contributors).
The track was recorded at the band’s home studio in the New Forest and was mixed and produced by Phil Wilks.
Previous accolades for the band have included supporting The Bluetones at the 02 Academy in Islington, opening the main stage at Playing The Field Festival and performing at the recent Camden Weekender (Dingwalls).
