Real Farmer release new single 'Mislocated' + new EP RF II out now via Strap Originals
“Singer Jeroen is a revelation, raw and powerful with some major issues to air. This bashed-up boy and his brilliant young band could well fly to the moon.” Louder Than War
“One of the Netherlands’ most infectious and lively outfits." So Young
“This new banger will propel them thoroughly on their way to wider recognition.” DIY
“A real rollercoaster of dark rock.” Anthony Fantano
DIY art punk outliers Real Farmer release their new single, Mislocated, through Strap Originals today (30th April). You can watch the video here. Mislocated is lifted from their new four track EP - RF II - which is released on 12” vinyl and download on 2nd May 2025, pre-order/save here: https://orcd.co/realfarmer-rf-2
It comes after BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles premiered their previous single - Big Stepper - and ahead of a bumper crop of top-tier festival appearances. The fast-rising Dutch band are poised to cart their head-thrashing show to Primavera Sound, The Great Escape, Come Together (w/ Kings of Leon), Pitchfork Paris and The Libertines festival at Gunnersbury Park.
On Mislocated, Real Farmer say: "More and more it seems that the individual effort to make progress is being politicised and made more complex than it actually is and in such a way that we as citizens view the world burning while our governments spread populist lies. And, in all our confusion, the masses appear to believe them, which makes us long for an escape.”
The new EP RF II was produced by Niek Van Den Driesschen and recorded at Far Out Sound Studios in Rotterdam. If you weren't born when the MC5, the Stooges or Pixies were kicking out the jams, make Real Farmer your new jam. I promise you won't be disappointed.
RF II tracklist:
1. Big Stepper (02:38)
2. Hard Times (02:31)
3. Mislocated (04:27)
4. Once More (03:43)

Hailing from the North Dutch city of Groningen, Real Farmer have blazed an exhilarating trail from the pubs and bars of their hometown to the highways and byways of Europe. Despite having played their first UK gig only a little more than a year ago, they have three UK tours, Libertines support shows, and a debut album (Compare What’s There [2024]) under their belt. And with their “perfect post-punk chassis” (John Robb) in such good stead, it feels inevitable that the Netherlands DIY scene is going to have to share its hidden gem with moshers the world over.
Real Farmer are: Leon Harms (drums), Jeroen Klootsema (vocals), Marrit Meinema(bass, backing vocals) and Peter van der Ploeg (guitar, backing vocals).
