Dublin post-funk quartet SCUSTIN are proud to reveal their new single ‘Our Regards’, set for release on 18th July 2025 via all good digital service providers.
The single is the latest track to be taken from their debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talker which will be released on 19th September 2025, following on from early singles ‘Charmer’, ‘The Ick (Don't Put Blackcurrant In That Pint Of Guinness)’, and ‘I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again’ which won high-profile fans in contemporaries Kojaque, Gurriers, Inhaler and Fontaines DC.
‘Our Regards’ showcases the band’s penchant for hip hop rhythms and rhyming schemes, their natural funk flair, and also incorporates elements of post punk and trad-inspired guitar motifs.
Echoing the recent sentiments of Kneecap, Gurriers and The Mary Wallopers on the current social and economic state of Ireland, with ‘Our Regards’ Scustin lend their voice to the national conversation and reveal the more serious and hard-hitting side of the forthcoming album.
Commenting on the track, the band say: “‘Our Regards’ is a song that laments where Dublin as a city is headed, who we’ve let run it, and the consequences that have resulted from those decisions. From the riots in 2023 to the rise of the far right, it’s a shadow of what it used to be, disguised behind flashy tech giants, “modern living spaces” that no one can afford, and political incumbents that lack substance and backbone.”
Recorded and produced by Richie Kennedy (The Murder Capital, RIDE, Interpol, Shame) at Black Mountain Studios, forthcoming debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talker is a concept record that tells the story of Larry, a barman in his mid-to-late 20s struggling to find his way amidst the social and economic uncertainties of modern Irish life.
With Confessions Of A Pub Talker, Scustin flip the stereotype of Irish drinking culture on its head. Rather than depicting the pub as a site of excess, they portray it as a communal refuge. “We wanted to push back against the cliché,” they say. “The pub isn’t about getting locked. It’s about love, grief, business ideas, confessions—it’s all there. And Larry is the guy who sees it all.” Through Larry, Scustin weave stories full of heart and humour, turning each track into a snapshot of life in the public house, complete with its messy, magical humanity.
Following shows alongside Confidence Man, Blossoms and more, earlier this summer the band announced an extensive run of ‘Confessions Of A Pub Talker’ Oct/Nov 2025 UK headline tour dates with tickets on sale now (see below for full listings).
Appearing at SXSW London and Beyond The Pale earlier this year, dates at Wilderness Festival, Mutations Festival, Electric Picnic, SWN Festival and Live At Leeds have also been announced for the coming months.
