August 14 - shortstraw. releases brand new track ‘bad turn’, out today (August 14th) via Our House Online (Freak Slug, Basht, Coupedekat).

Showcasing her unique musicianship and genre-hopping capabilities, shortstraw. - AKA Coventry based Erin West - meets you at the chaotic intersection of grime, rave, and punk. Equally at home spitting bars behind the decks as strutting the stage in dingy pub venues, her politically savvy pop-culture soaked lyrics are delivered with the charismatic panache of Keith Flint, and dead-eyed precision of underground grime MCs.

Marking the follow-up to May single ‘dot cotton’, which garnered acclaim throughout the press community from the likes of DIY, Dork, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit and Rolling Stone UK, shortstraw. has capitalised on previous slots with Soft Play and Mannequin Pussy by ticking off debut appearances at The Great Escape, Brighten The Corners, Boomtown this summer - with End Of The Road scheduled later in August.

Ahead of the single release, shortstraw. explained:

“This song is about a feeling we all know too well, when you know things have been taken too far and everything is about to go west but it feels like there is nothing you can do to change that. Whether that’s on a night out or in terms of the state of the world, everyone has felt that feeling, everyone has had a bad turn coming their way. the moody memphis to jungle type beat really encapsulates that feeling of it creeping up behind you.”

‘bad turn’ - the new single by shortstraw. - is out now on all streaming platforms.
