SINGLE REVIEW: The Valery Trails - Everything is Temporary
‘Everything is Temporary’ is my first brush with The Valery Trails — and it’s left a glittering impression. Shimmering, sparkling, and effortlessly jangly, the track is a lush throwback to the golden haze of early ’90s British indie. Think The Railway Children at their most picturesque, with soundscapes that glisten and guitars that chime like sunlight through stained glass.
There’s an effervescent energy running through the whole thing — bright drums, big guitar hooks, and a melodic vocal delivery that strikes the perfect balance between polish and grit. It’s upbeat without being saccharine, nostalgic without wallowing. The kind of track that makes you feel like you’re walking through a memory, but with your feet still firmly in the present.
Lyrically, it taps into that bittersweet ache of looking back — the fleeting nature of youth, the way everything once felt disposable and infinite all at once. “Everything is temporary when you’re young” hits like a quiet revelation, wrapped in warmth rather than regret.
What really stands out is how natural it all feels. There’s a raw simplicity to the lead guitar lines that gives the track its charm — nothing overworked, nothing forced. Just a band doing what they do best, and doing it beautifully.
‘Everything is Temporary’ is a truly wonderful track — emotionally resonant, sonically rich, and absolutely one for the feels. If this is just the first taste of Winter Palace, I’m all in.
