Soulful Electronic Purveyor Bitter:Sweet Returns With ‘Baby Is Back’

Written by Shana Halligan in collaboration with producers Verskotzi, Tony Esterly, and DRMS, the album conveys a strong message, affirming that frontwoman Shana Halligan is firmly in charge. This follows the impactful album's title track ‘Baby Is Back’ and the emotionally resonant piece ‘Rise’, marking a significant comeback for Bitter:Sweet after a decade-long hiatus, reflecting both a musical evolution and a spiritual homecoming for the singer-songwriter, frontwoman, and remaining member of the former duo.  

"I've been able to choose the collaborators and producers I want to work with shaping the exact sound I want,” explains Shana.  Talking more in depth about the album, she adds: “The album is a total blend and evolution from where Bitter:Sweet started to where electronic music is now”.

The record blends electronic music, jazz, and influences from classic Hollywood soundtracks, enriching the band’s unique sound. “I have made it a point to look for producers who could take the cinematic, nostalgic, playfully sultry flavor of my work and bring in today's sonic landscape, integrating many new sounds and emotion. "The band’s music has always been about freedom, vibrancy, and limitless creativity. The new album takes that even further”.

Including more personal and raw tracks like ‘Rise’ written in the final days before her father’s passing (Grammy-winner and Blood, Sweat and Tears founder Dick Halligan). That track includes a hauntingly beautiful string arrangement from Serj Tankian of System Of A Down, the adventurous dark, electronic ‘Rosary', the brooding ‘Lovers Waltz’, written with Tony Esterly (SIA, Mae Muller) and the bombastic fun banger 'Roaring 21’.
