South London Punks, Dead Air Release High Powered New Single 'Fast Food World' on 25th July

South London punks Dead Air release high-powered new single ‘Fast Food World’ via Fly Tip Records on 25th July.

Taking aim at global overconsumption, throwaway culture and society’s ever-growing obsession with greed over substance, Dead Air have clapped back the only way they know how - with high speed riffs, furiously biting lyrics, and as many breakdowns as they can fit into three minutes.

The idea came from us all working and touring and writing, just living the day-to-day of being in the industry. Over the last couple years, it’s felt like there’s this overwhelming obsession with things like AI and just… the commercial side of music. So much of it feels soulless now. Reuben started throwing around the phrase ‘Fast Food Music’ and it stuck.”

Musically, you can definitely hear some of our favourite bands in this one. The riff is a kind of nod to how Queens of the Stone Age work that low string, it gives it loads of drive. There’s a bit of Adam Jones in there too, and a touch of Bad Nerves in the chorus, especially with that major chord landing. We love that stuff.”

Having debuted the single on their UK tour earlier this year (which included Focus Wales and a riotous sold out show at The Social in London), Reuben recalls the explosive audience reaction:

“It’s a rocket to play live. We added this tripletty pre-breakdown, breakdown just for fun, really to throw people off before that final crunch hits. We first played it on tour, and it just… went off. Especially at our last London show, the crowd went mental. It’s crazy how changing a feel like that rhythmically can completely shift how people respond.”

Dead Air kicked 2025 off into high gear with the successful release of their single ‘Die’ and E.P ‘Elements’, which saw the three-piece develop an evergrowing fanbase on TikTok, as well as acclaim in the UK from John Kennedy (Radio X), Punktastic, Distorted Sound; and international airplay on Radioeins (Germany), NRK P13 (Norway), AntyRadio (Poland), Radio Freccia, Radio Rock (Italy), Rock FM (Estonia) and Willy (Belgium).

They will support Battlesnake at The Underworld, London on 6th August; plus embark on an unmissable tour in October (TBA).

Dead Air are ones to watch, and are poised to take the UK’s Rock/Alternative scene by storm - if they aren’t your new favourite band, you just haven’t heard them yet.

In the band’s own immortal words: F*ck sh*t up. Die.
