The Hushdown Release New Single: “Corned Beef Hash”

The Hushdown, the Baltimore-based art rock band known for their eclectic guitar-driven sound, released their new single “Corned Beef Hash” on June 14, 2025. The track served as an early glimpse into their upcoming album, Inherit the Night. Exploring themes of female rebellion against societal expectations, the song featured searing blues-rock slide guitar and lead vocals that rose from a calm, conversational tone to an aggressive feminine growl.

“Corned Beef Hash” was recorded at Wright Way Studios in Baltimore, produced by Jeremy Hicks-Kachik, and engineered and mixed by Steve Wright.

“This one is personal for me,” said Kali Hinkel (Lead Vocalist/Lyricist). “It got its title from what I was cooking when we wrote it, but the lyrics came from my own past and experiences growing up in a conservative small town. It’s the message I told myself when I felt the chains of social expectations tightening around me—trying to make me fit a mold I was never going to be comfortable in.”

Lead guitarist Jeremy Hicks-Kachik added:
“Musically, my aim was to create a sonic underpinning for the message Kali was putting out. The dulcet upbeat acoustic guitar gives way to a seething electric guitar that carries the rage and rejection of restrictive expectations.”

The song is now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, iHeart Radio, and iTunes, as well as for digital download on Apple, Amazon Music, and more. Physical copies, including CD and vinyl, are being sold at live shows for the forthcoming album Inherit the Night, with wider online distribution to follow.
