Tom Walker Teams Up With CALM To Launch Exclusive T-Shirt For World Suicide Prevention Day
Part of CALM’s ‘Lifelines’ campaign, the collaboration raises vital funds and awareness to tackle the UK’s suicide crisis.
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), the UK charity uniting against suicide, has partnered with Scottish singer-songwriter and CALM ambassador Tom Walker to release an an exclusive t-shirt for World Suicide Prevention Day (10 Sept.), with all profits funding CALM’s life-saving services.
The t-shirt features a line drawing of Walker’s signature beanie, paired with the lyric “I wish you knew you had a lifeline” from the song ‘Lifeline’ off his 2024 album I AM. Walker wrote the song after he lost someone very close to him to suicide to inspire people to reach out and ask for help if they’re struggling.
Walker said on Instagram, “The song is about a feeling of hope, which could be the message that someone needs to remind themselves to give tomorrow a chance.”
Printed to order by charity merch provider Teemill, these organic cotton t-shirts are as sustainable as they are purposeful.
The t-shirt is a part of CALM’s ‘Lifelines’ collection — a series of music-inspired apparel collaborations using inspiring lyrics as messages of hope for those struggling. The collection also features designs from bands Blossoms, Inhaler and Fontaines D.C.
CALM reported that 6,929 15–24-year-olds in the UK lost their lives to suicide in the last decade, with as many as two-fifths (39%) of those aged 18-34 having experienced a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts over the past five years alone.
The CEO of CALM, Simon Gunning, said of the campaign: “One word, one message, one line of a song that means so much to you, can make a world of difference. We couldn’t be more grateful to all the artists involved in ‘Lifelines’, for using their platforms in this way, showing just what a juggernaut of a power for good music can be.”
The exclusive Tom Walker x CALM T-shirt is available now via CALM’s official shop here.
