November 2025 UK & EU headline tour dates

Ahead of their string of headline dates throughout the UK and in Paris this November, folktronica icons Tunng are sharing their beautifully psychedelic new single ‘Anoraks’ on Full Time Hobby (22nd October).

The release of ‘Anoraks’ concludes a busy year for Tunng, who released their critically acclaimed 20th anniversary album Love You All Over Again in January, which was followed by a sold-out headline tour throughout Europe and the UK.

Centred around a lucid dream-like story, ‘Anoraks’ is a nostalgic folk song with intertwining acoustic guitars, dreamy electronic textures and haunting percussion. Each band member’s part was recorded from home in different places – Sweden, Margate, London – but when assembled together, they create a sonic unity that perfectly encapsulates Tunng’s unique and beloved sound.

“One of the ways we write songs in Tunng is that Mike [Lindsay] sends me a musical track and I write a melody and lyric over it”, says Sam Genders. “That was our plan with this but for reasons I can't explain Mike's beautiful piece of music didn't immediately inspire a song in the way it usually might. I was about to send it back and suggest we turn it into an instrumental but then the story popped into my head. It fell in a bit like a dream... faster than I was able to write it down. It's a little different to what we usually do so I was slightly nervous to send it to him. Luckily he liked it and asked for a chorus.”

Adding to this, Mike shares, “It took me a while to get my head back into Tunng world to write this piece of music. It’s different to starting an album, where you know you will build a journey out of 10 songs.  We knew we just wanted to write one really special song. One day my head was very much IN Tunng world and these intertwined acoustic guitars and electronic textures pinged out. Then when Sam sent me a voice recording of this incredibly beautiful, psychedelic story, only one day after I sent the instrumental to him, I was in love. Becky then sent me a voice recording from London of her vocal and Phil and Marty came to my Margate studio for clarinets, percussion and synth bass lines. Ash then flew in his hauntingly perfect saw parts from Somerset and a beautiful guitar part on the nylon string”.

Sam concludes: “I think it's about how we go through experiences with the people in our lives and we can't quite see the direction they are shaping us in. A kindness might teach us the value of kindness, but then so might an experience of cruelty. There's a strange magic at play everywhere and at all times. And most of all it's about friends having adventures and the joy of connecting with other people, even if it's scary sometimes”.
