About the single PIGS PIGS:

PIGS PIGS is a fierce, urgent anthem about the policing of dissent and the escalating crackdown on protest across the UK. Written during a time when peaceful demonstrators can be arrested for holding a sign, the song confronts the State’s growing use of force, surveillance and criminalisation against people who dare to resist injustice.

The track references real police tactics — from kettling to tasers — and challenges the violence of incarceration and suppression. Its repeated chant, “Lights, gather, remember, to RUN!”, is inspired by the shocking scenes at the candlelit vigil for Sarah Everard on Clapham Common, where women mourning her murder were met with heavy-handed police aggression.

At its core, PIGS PIGS is a song about rage, resistance and solidarity. It is a call to come together, push back, and refuse to be intimidated by the machinery of the State.
This is protest music for the present moment — loud, uncompromising, and impossible to ignore.

TWO TONNE MACHETE are a feminist alt-punk force from North West England and North Wales, carving out their space with authentic, high-energy, feel-good punk anthems that hit as hard live as they do on record. Fronted by Emily (she/her – vocals/guitar/keys) alongside Ro (he/him – bass), Thibaut (he/him – drums) and Mark (he/him – lead guitar), TTM deliver a sound that’s raw, loud and deeply melodic - a collision of powerful vocals, crunching distortion and bass-driven intensity.

Fans of Mannequin Pussy, IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers and Distillers will feel instantly at home in their world.

With a strong political ethos at their core, TWO TONNE MACHETE confront misogyny, control, radical politics, sexuality, protest, toxic masculinity and dissent - all delivered through full-throttle energy, razor-sharp guitars, thumping bass and striking female vocals. Their songs carry urgency, depth and emotion, mixing punk ferocity with dynamic light-and-shade, giving them a sound that goes beyond genre while staying true to their Punk ethos.

Despite being proudly DIY, their first singles - along with their latest track PIGS PIGS - have earned airplay on BBC Introducing Merseyside, Radio X’s Exposure with John Kennedy, and over 400 stations worldwide.

2025 has seen the band explode on the live circuit, performing at Focus Wales, Manchester Punk Festival, Future Now Festival before culminating in a stand out performance at Blackpool’s Rebellion Punk Festival, where they drew a record crowd to the Introducing Stage. Their live reputation continues to grow as one of the most exciting, high-energy emerging alternative acts in the UK.

Following a huge year of shows, TWO TONNE MACHETE will release a brand new EP in Spring 2026 before heading out on an extensive run of UK dates throughout 2026, including a January support for Pulled Apart By Horses.
